2023 Blair Academy (N.J.) defensive back Moussa Kane‍ is quietly rising up the boards of many programs across the country after a successful summer.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder camped at Clemson and Penn State in June and now holds offers from both schools.

Notre Dame has now entered the mix and while the Fighting Irish haven’t offered, Kane will be in South Bend at the end of the month for the BBQ.

"They started recruiting me and I know what type of school it is,” Kane told ISD. “Notre Dame is a high academic school and play some really good football too. I felt it was a good school to be interested in.

"I'm still doing my research, so I don't know too much about Notre Dame."

The trip to South Bend will not only be a chance for Kane to educate himself on Notre Dame, but it will serve as his first opportunity to meet and greet the Irish defensive staff.

Director of Defensive Recruiting Chad Bowden has been the point man to this point and has impressed the New Jersey native with his personality, but also with his July travels.

"I've mainly been talking with Coach Bowden,” said Kane. "He seems like a genuine dude. When I call him, he's always somewhere different, so I'm guessing he's adventurous and has fun. He's a cool guy.

“I'm going to talk to Coach Mike Mickens soon and meet the coordinator when I go there.”

Clemson and Penn State aren’t the only programs in the mix for Kane as Boston College, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse and Virginia Tech have also offered.

Kane is grateful for the early attention and it’s something he’s worked hard for over the last couple of years.

"I'm thankful and blessed to be put in this situation,” explained Kane. “At the same time, it's also because of all the work I've put in and the hard work I've done.

"As I was growing up, my closest coaches told me to keep working and I could get any offer. I had that instilled in me and a belief I could go to these places and get these offers."

And yes, Kane is still putting in the work as he knows he’ll likely end up playing a different position at the next level.

"I'm playing safety in high school, but most schools are recruiting me as a corner,” Kane stated. “I'm working a lot on my off-coverage and my ability to read the field.

"One of my strengths is that I'm a really good press corner. I like pressing more than anything in football. That's my favorite part of the game."

When it comes to a decision, Kane isn’t in a hurry to make one as he expects to make a decision next spring or summer.

"If everything is perfect, I would want to make my commitment in the spring or maybe July 20th of next year because that's my dad's birthday,” said Kane. “That's probably around the time I hope I can make a commitment."

Offers: Boston College, Clemson, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse and Virginia Tech
