2024 Speedster Shamar Heard Recaps Notre Dame Stop
One of the nation’s fastest prospects in the Class of 2024 zoomed down to South Bend this past weekend.
2024 Michigan athlete Shamar Heard was impressed with what he saw at Notre Dame on Saturday.
“I liked it,” said Heard, who is a standout on the football field and the track for Chippewa Valley High School.
“It was a new experience for me.”
He got to tour the athletic side of campus while in town.
“I got to see the athletic building, weight room,” the speedster said. “They showed us all the people who were drafted from there. The game of course. I got to look around the stadium and the campus. Overall, it was a nice place to be.”
Heard was especially impressed with the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium for the Irish’s game against Toledo.
“The atmosphere was crazy,” he said. “They were really committed. I didn't feel like a stranger in there. I can say that.
“The atmosphere was pretty chill. Once they got to game time, it wasn't like anything overwhelming. Everybody just watched good football.”
Despite the Irish’s too-close-for-comfort win over Toledo, Heard liked what he saw from their offense.
“I love what they do with the wide receivers, how they handle the game,” he said. “I could see myself in those predicaments. Overall, it was pretty nice.”
He had the chance to speak with Notre Dame wide receivers coach Del Alexander both before and after the game.
“He was just telling me to watch out, take tips, get my film out there for good exposure and good luck on the season,” said Heard.
He’s planning stops at the two in-state powers – Michigan and Michigan State – this fall, but will have one eye on the Irish as well.
“I'm going to be looking at it. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing on the football field back in Michigan, but I'm definitely going to keep Notre Dame in mind.”
