2023 RB Commit Sedrick Irvin Enjoys Notre Dame Return
Sedrick Irvin Jr. returned to Notre Dame this past weekend and the 2023 Irish running back commit was once again impressed.
“It was great,” said Irvin, who committed to the Irish back in September.
“It was a great weekend.”
Much of it was review for Irvin, who had already visited South Bend multiple times.
“Basically, they took us on the normal tour that I've done before,” the Florida native explained. “When we got there, it was pretty cool. Coach Bowden, Chad Bowden and one of the other guys, they came out like it was Secret Service, so that was pretty cool.
“We had a sitdown with Coach (Marcus) Freeman, we did the videos and they took us to the hockey game, so that was pretty fun.”
Irvin also had the chance to spend time with fellow commits Drayk Bowen and Brenan Vernon along with one uncommitted 2023 offensive lineman.
“That was pretty cool,” he said of hanging with the other pledges. “That was the first time I got to be with some of those guys since I committed.
“I was also with Sully Absher, just talking to him and trying to get in his head.”
Sullivan Absher told ISD his visit was “awesome,” and Irvin said he’d love to have the 6-foot-7, 300-pounder blocking for him in South Bend.
“100 percent,” said Irvin.
Irvin expects to be back in South Bend in the coming months.
“Definitely,” he said. “I want to take a couple more visits, but I don't know when yet.”
He was excited to see Notre Dame’s hiring of Deland McCullough as running backs coach. Irvin hasn’t spoken with McCullough yet, but he’s looking forward to doing so soon.
“That's pretty cool. I don't know too much about him, but I trust in what Coach Freeman's doing.”
