2024 Notre Dame Vyper Target Jayshawn Ross Stunned By Notre Dame Offer

After receiving an offer from Notre Dame earlier this month, Jayshawn Ross‍ was legitimately puzzled by the question of why the offer meant so much to him.

“It's Notre Dame,” the 2024 Missouri Vyper target responded. “What do you mean?

“I don't think it gets any better than Notre Dame.”

The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder also has offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, USC and Penn State.

He learned the news from Notre Dame defensive line coach Al Washington.

“He was like, 'It's Pot of Gold Day,'” Ross recalled. “He liked my film. He 'd love for me to come up and all that good stuff.

“I had no words. I was speechless.”

The St. Pius X star doesn’t have a visit date locked in yet, but does expect to before long.

“I definitely plan on visiting soon,” he said.

“I would like to be welcomed by the team and get an upfront view of how the coach is going to be. I don't want a sugarcoat (view). I want it to be like what I'm going to be experiencing throughout college.”

He stayed in regular contact with Washington leading up to the offer.

“Every Wednesday I've talked to him,” Ross said. “I've called up, talked to him. We talk about any and everything.

“He's a great guy from what I hear. I hear he is going to put it on and not take his foot off the brake. We're going to keep going and we're going to make this program better.”

Ross hasn’t taken any other visits recently and doesn’t have anything else locked in just yet.

He does know what he’s looking for in a school.

“In the long run, I'm going to want a family and a team to actually live with, not just for football and get this and this done,” he said. “I want a family environment like I have now in my high school.

“I just want to push through with the guys that are closest to me.”
