Emmett Mosley‍ is certainly familiar with Notre Dame, but the 2024 California wide receiver/athlete will enjoy an entirely new Notre Dame experience this weekend.

Mosley, the son of former Irish athletes, will be on campus as a recruit for the first time for Saturday’s Blue-Gold Game.

“I'm super excited,” the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder told Irish Sports Daily.

Mosely is the son of Emmett Mosley, who played receiver and running back for the Irish from 1993-96, and Cindy (Daws) Mosley, who was a soccer star for Notre Dame and won the prestigious Hermann Trophy in 1996.

“It's crazy,” he said of being recruited by the school his parents attended. “My parents say it makes them feel old, but it's really crazy.

“I've been there a couple of times for some of spring games and other games. I haven't been as recruit and I've heard that they've done a lot of renovations and stuff and obviously the new staff. I haven't been there in maybe five years.”

He’s excited to see the upgrades.

“First of all, I want to see all the facilities,” said Mosley. “I've never seen them before and meeting the coaches in person and also seeing the new energy and how they practice and how they play, the energy they bring, the offense, all of that.”

Irish receivers coach Chansi Stuckey has made a tremendously positive impression already.

“First of all, he's a great guy,” Mosely said of Stuckey. “He's super easy to talk to. But I also think he's a great coach just from what I've talked to him about and his perspective on things. I think he's a really good receivers coach and he's a really good person too.”

In addition to Notre Dame, his offer sheet includes schools like USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Texas, Georgia, LSU and Penn State among others.

Mosley has some other visits in mind, but nothing set yet.

“I think I'm going to make it out probably Southeast, Texas,” he said. “Hopefully, I can get over to Bama and Clemson and maybe Georgia. Then, I might go up somewhere in the Midwest too, I don't know yet though.

He doesn’t have a timeline for a decision either.

“I'm just going through the process slowly, but steadily,” he said.

You can’t blame his parents if they have a bias.

“They both had really good experiences at Notre Dame. They've still benefited from it after their careers, just from networking, what they've learned and people they've met. They strongly encourage it, I would say because of what they went through and how it impacted their lives. But they still want me to keep an open mind to whatever's right.”
