Film Don't Lie | Sullivan Absher
Just about all of the offensive line commitments under Harry Hiestand fit within a certain size criteria, which is one reason why the lines he coached were filled with future NFL players. The newest Notre Dame O-line commit, Sullivan Absher, certainly checks all of the boxes. He has an NFL frame and is probably closer to 300 pounds currently than the 275 we have him listed at.
It’s that size and the way he can move that make him an enticing prospect.

What he does best:
Like a vegetarian surviving by eating tofu, Absher never seems totally satisfied by just making his block. He has a desire to put his man into the ground as much as possible.
Even when he finishes a player, he will go looking for more work. There might not be anything that excites an offensive line coach more than seeing that.
He moves shockingly well for his size. He displays good knee bend and has not trouble getting to the second level to pick up linebackers.
What he needs to improve:
It’s stating the obvious that he plays in an offense that doesn’t allow him to get better in pass protection. His high school runs the Veer so he has his fingers dug into the ground leaning forward ready to base block the snot out of someone on every snap.
He has been working with a private O-line coach to improve in that area of his game so he’s not going to come into Notre Dame without having put in time to get better. He also has the kind of length and athleticism that suggest he can develop into a very good player in pass protection.
What’s his ceiling?
Watching the way he can get under the pads of shorter players, the way he moves, and his frame reminds me a lot of Mike McGlinchey in high school. That’s why, despite the unknowns about Absher as a pass blocker, he’s a prospect that is so intriguing.
It’s going to take some time, but he has the tools to develop into quality starter for Notre Dame and those guys typically end up getting drafted.
