Future Domers See Notre Dame Future In Win Over Clemson
Not surprisingly, Irish fans were fired up about Notre Dame’s dominant 35-14 victory over #4 Clemson on Saturday night, but the Irish’s committed recruits were as excited as anybody.
“I had an incredible time,” 2023 tight end commit Cooper Flanagan said. “What a game. They really did a ton for the recruits this weekend.”
Flangan and his entire family took a redeye flight from California to Chicago and arrived in South Bend on Saturday morning.
After watching warmups and eating lunch, Notre Dame Director of Recruiting Chad Bowden took the Flanagans to the indoor facility before they headed to watch the Player Walk.
“We were able to take part in the march through campus with the team which is probably a highlight,” Flanagan said.
The game was certainly another highlight for Flanagan and the other visiting recruits.
“The game was unreal, with the (Michael) Mayer TD at the end to seal it,” he said.
Linebacker commit Preston Zinter (pictured at top) agreed.
“The game was unreal and the atmosphere was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before!” said Zinter.
“I think it says lot of about the future, it proves that ND can complete with anyone in the country and that we are on the path to the top!”
Cornerback commit Christian Gray also feels the win over the Tigers was a sign of things to come.
“I thought the game was a great game, and that we prepared for this game,” he said. “I say this is just the beginning, onto the next.”
Safety commit Adon Shuler was also impressed.
“The team played great and it was a great atmosphere for the program to use for the rest of the season,” he said.
Flanagan said going into the locker room with the team after the game was the most memorable portion of the trip.
“They took all the 2023 recruits back with the team to celebrate with them, super special,” he said. “Hoping they keep the momentum through the rest of the season.”
Offensive line pledge Sam Pendleton can’t imagine any commit who may have been wavering before not being all-in afterward.
“I don't know anybody who was, but I'm sure if anyone was and if they were at that game, I don't know what else you need,” he said.
Gray also believe it was a great showcase for recruits and commits alike.
“Those other recruits know this real,” he said. “It’s their choice if they want to choose real over fake.”
Few current Notre Dame commits are getting as much attention from Irish fans right now as five-star safety Peyton Bowen.
We spoke with a source close to the situation following Bowen’s trip this past weekend and it’s clear the Irish feel as confident as ever about hanging onto the Texas safety.
“Great,” is how one source described it.
