2025 Monroe (N.C.) safety Jordan Young‍ was offered on St. Patrick’s Day and wasted little time getting to Notre Dame for a visit as he was on campus this weekend.

The 6-foot, 170-pounder was able to see the lay of the land, but also start to build relationships with the staff, which are so valuable and that’s what stood out to Young.

“The campus, facilities and connections with the coaches,” Young said of what stood out during his visit.

Young was also able to take in Notre Dame’s practice on Saturday morning and he was paying close attention to the safety group to see how he fit into the room and the defense.

“High speed, competitive and that you have to work for your spot,” stated Young “My athletic ability fits into the style of defense they play.”

Safeties coach Chris O’Leary made plenty of time for Young and his message connected with the North Carolina native.

“Notre Dame is the place to be, football doesn’t last forever and networking after football,” Young said of O’Leary’s message. “And to keep working on my craft.”

Prior to practice, Young and his family were brought out to midfield to meet with Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman. It was a brief conversation, but it was a moment Young won’t forget along with more time with Freeman during his visit.

“It was great,” explained Young. “He spoke to my academics more than my athletic ability. He also said that football will come to an end and then what. Academics are very important.”

It was Young’s first look at Notre Dame, so first impressions are everything and the Irish hit it out of the park.

“Notre Dame has always been one of my top schools so I’d say yes,” said Young when asked if the Irish made a move following the trip.
