Recruiting can move at a snail's pace or it can move at a much quicker speed.

For 2024 Westside High School (Neb.) linebacker Teddy Rezac‍, it’s moving at the speed of light as the 6-foot-4, 200-pounder was offered by Notre Dame on May 6th and was on campus less than 48 hours later for a two-day visit before going public with his verbal pledge on May 12th.

Football opened the door, but it was Notre Dame’s academics that made the decision easy for the three-star prospect.

“Playing that top level of football where Notre Dame is with the addition of getting a great degree that can set me up for life,” Rezac told Irish Sports Daily regarding his reasons for choosing the Irish.

“Obviously, I want to go play in the NFL, everyone does, but the average career is basically three years. If I can get set up for the rest of my life with a Notre Dame degree, that's just really ideal for me.

During his visit, Rezac was impressed with Notre Dame’s plan for his development on the field as Irish graduate assistant Max Bullough had a significant role in showing the Nebraska native how he’d fit into the defense.

“Right now, they think I'd be at the Rover position, a lengthy dude who can play on the end of the line of scrimmage,” Rezac said afterward. “But eventually, they think if I can grow into my frame and put on weight, I can play virtually wherever in the defense.

“That excites me. Playing in space is fun, Rover position. But if I grow into my body and am able to put on weight, I think it would be good to try out playing in the middle. See what that's like.”

ISD’s Jamie Uyeyama likes the addition of Rezac as he’s a good athlete, but the Notre Dame staff were also able to go verify his testing in-person.

“He’s a legitimately intriguing athlete who plays multiple sports, multiple positions, and I have heard those athletic testing numbers have been verified by Notre Dame,” stated Uyeyama., “Strictly as an athlete, he pops on film.”
