2025 LB Kai Reid Enjoys Notre Dame Visit
Kai Reid made his way out to South Bend for Notre Dame’s 41-17 win over Central Michigan on Saturday and the 2025 Kansas linebacker left impressed.
“It was good,” the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder said. “I really liked the coaching staff and recruiting staff.
“They seemed really interested in what you had to talk to them about and they seemed to actually acknowledge what you were talking to them about.”
Reid had the opportunity to speak with defensive coordinator Al Golden and recruiting staffer Caleb Davis.
“Those are two I'm close with,” he said.
While much of the emphasis was on football throughout the day, Reid was looking beyond the game.
“I noticed the academics and stuff,” the Piper High School standout said. “They brought up a kid who was a walk-on. Now he's a sixth-year. He was talking about, 'I know I'm not going to make it to NFL, but I know I have to figure out something else in life for my degree. Life can't all be about football.'”
Reid, who is still looking for his first offer, liked the surroundings in South Bend.
“It was really nice,” he said. “Everything about the visit was really nice. I really like how close the campus and everything is to each other like how close the indoor facility is to the game fields.”
He also enjoyed the game itself.
“The game was really cool,” said Reid. “I like to watch my position. Number eight, that linebacker (Marist Liufau), I really like him. I'm going to watch more film on him. The student section and the fans, they're really top-notch.”
Liufau’s energy stood out to Reid.
“He was always in on the play and playing with 100 percent effort,” said Reid. “He was always running to the ball, even if he was opposite side of the field and if he made a mistake, he would tap himself and go on to the next play and make a big play the next play.
“It looked like he was the leader of the defense.”
After camping at several schools in the summer, including Notre Dame, Reid is now getting film ready to send back to each. He said an offer from Notre Dame would mean “a lot.”
“I really like the school in general and then I can little more about the actual campus instead of just the football side,” he said. “That would mean a lot.”
He’ll visit Oklahoma State in a few weeks.
