2026 ATH Cam Thomas Ready For Notre Dame Return
It may be early, but it’s obvious Cam Thomas is a big-time prospect.
The 2026 Ohio athlete already has offers from schools like Michigan, Georgia Tech and Cincinnati among others.
Colleges like the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder as a linebacker,
"I've been hearing that I mess up offensive schemes,” he says. “I'm still so young. I don't look like every other sophomore. They just told me I look good. I look fast off the ball. I'm able to drop back when I need to.”
Thomas has also heard from several other schools, including Notre Dame.
“As of right now, it is more on the beginning side,” Thomas says of his communication with the Irish. “I'm still an underclassman, so it's hard for them to be able to talk to me and stuff.”
The Lakota West High School standout will be in South Bend this weekend for the Irish’s game against USC.
“I know they're one of the best in the country, of course,” he says of the Irish. “The culture there is amazing. The campus is beautiful. A great coaching staff and all that.”
Thomas has a former teammate at Notre Dame now in safety Ben Minich and a current teammate committed to the Irish in 2024 safety Taebron Bennie-Powell.
“Some of my family members went to Notre Dame and they're big Notre Dame fans, so I've always been around it,” says Thomas.
He was in South Bend for a camp this past summer.
“I got a nice tour and stuff,” he says. “It was great.”
Thomas is hoping to get a different peek at the University this weekend.
“It's more about the people,” he says of what he’s hoping to see. “I haven't really been there around other people that much. When I was up there, school wasn't going on.”
He’s made a few other visits already this fall and has plans for at least one more.
“I was at Miami last week,” he says. “I've been up to O State. I went to UC a couple times.
“I'm planning on going out to Michigan, should be there once or twice.”
He has an early idea of how he’ll be evaluating his college options.
“What feels like home? Where I feel the most comfortable. If I go far away from home, how do I feel like I'm at home? That's the most important thing to me.”
