After Successful Season, LB Commit Bodie Kahoun Ready For Notre Dame
When Bodie Kahoun blew up as a prospect almost a year ago, he’d only played a handful of games at linebacker.
The 2024 Virginia defender had been a safety before growing into a linebacker and transitioning to that spot the second half of his junior season at Patrick Henry High School.
Kahoun committed to Notre Dame prior to his senior season, his first playing linebacker full-time and a season that went well.
“I feel like overall, I just learned the role of leadership and taking over as a captain into a spot that I'm still pretty new at,” he says. “Even though that's the position I will be playing in college, I only played what, four or five games of it last year?
“Taking over a big spot with a big role was a lot of pressure, but I feel like I took it to heart and ran with it as much as I could and had fun with also being a team player.”
In 11 games, Kahoun registered 200 tackles, including nine sacks and 27 tackles for a loss.
“Throughout the year, I felt an obvious difference,” he says. “I was just reading and filling gaps and gaining confidence throughout the game. Throughout the season, I feel like I got better and better each game.”
Kahoun understands there are plenty of strides remaining.
“Definitely in just the knowledge of the game and my readings of the line and different gaps, but I feel like physically I can get better too,” he says. “Everyone can always get stronger.”
Kahoun communicated with Notre Dame defensive coordinator Al Golden and linebacker assistant Max Bullough on a weekly basis throughout the season.
“They liked how I played with my agility and all the physicality, but they said there's always room for more,” Kahoun recalls. “They just liked how I was a team captain overall. They saw on the film me helping players up, lifting people up after a missed play and stuff like that.”
A one-time Ohio State lacrosse commit, Kahoun will now turn his focus to preparing for college football.
“I'm done with sports for the rest of high school,” he says. “I'm really just on the lifting plan and eating and running.”
Kahoun won’t be enrolling early, although he says he wishes he was, and says he’s most looking forward to getting to South Bend to get around the people and his future classmates.
“Really just seeing all the guys again and playing on the team and just getting after it. I just enjoy the guys so much.”
