Top 2025 WR Talyn Taylor Enjoys Another Trip to Notre Dame
2025 Geneva Community (Ill.) receiver Talyn Taylor wasn’t on the Notre Dame Junior Day visitor list until Friday night as the four-star prospect had family plans, but life changes quickly in recruiting.
New Notre Dame receivers coach Mike Brown made a stop by Taylor’s high school on Friday and a return trip to South Bend was set shortly after.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder had been on campus for Notre Dame’s end-of-summer recruiting event and then for the Ohio State game, but this trip stood out to Taylor.
“This trip was different in that I got to hang out with a lot of other guys in the 2025 class and got to spend some one-on-one time with Coach Freeman,” Taylor told ISD.
Freeman drove home the need for Taylor on the field, while also making sure the Illinois native left the meeting knowing the importance and value of a degree from Notre Dame.
“Coach Freeman’s message was about being in the top one percent of people in the classroom and on the field,” explained Taylor. “Notre Dame provides an Ivy League education as well as an opportunity to compete for a National Championship. He is for the players and takes care of his players. He also said I could make an immediate impact here as well and that they really want me.”
Another highlight for Taylor was getting to spend time with Brown. The two have now been connected for three years and now three schools. Brown made it clear last winter Taylor was wanted in Wisconsin when he took the job and the point was driven home this weekend for the Irish.
“I like that Coach Brown started recruiting me the summer of my freshman year when he was at Cincinnati and he has stayed on me everywhere he has been,” Taylor stated. “He helps players maximize their potential and he told me I could make an immediate impact in the WR room at Notre Dame.”
Saturday wasn’t Taylor’s first time around Notre Dame’s commits, but now there are more, including three from Illinois.
“It was great,” Taylor said. “I really like the guys coming in. I have seen some of these guys a few times now.”
As for what’s next, Taylor isn’t in a rush to make a decision and will take more visits in the coming months to figure out where he wants to take official visits in June.
“We are evaluating our plans for next weekend and I will take a junior day visit to Georgia on February 3rd,” said Taylor. “My plan from there is to decide what schools I plan to set up official visits with and commit this summer prior to my senior year after I take those visits.”
