2026 LB Cam Thomas Enjoys Another Stop At Notre Dame
After visiting for a camp and a game last year, Cam Thomas was back at Notre Dame on Thursday to take in the Irish’s first practice of the spring.
“It was great,” the 2026 Ohio linebacker said. “I had a good time.
“We watched the practice and then we had some position meetings. We had a nice brunch. We went to the Basilica and the Grotto. We got to go in the locker room. We went on the field. We saw a couple of the dorms and stuff. Like I said, we had some position meetings, watched the film of the practice.”
Thomas, who made the trip with his Lakota West teammate Grant Beerman, enjoyed the morning practice session.
“It was dope; high intensity,” he said. “It looked like they got some good work in for sure. I enjoyed it.”
The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder already has 20-plus offers from schools like Michigan, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, Virginia Tech and Pitt among others.
He could see himself fitting in the Irish’s defense in a variety of ways.
“They got the Rover position they use a lot,” he said. “I think I could play Mike backer a little bit, basically anywhere on the defense for real. They've got a very diverse defense.”
He was able to speak with several Irish staffers throughout the day.
“Pretty much all of them,” he said. “I talked to Dre Brown, Chad Bowden, Coach (Marcus) Freeman, Coach (Max) Bullough, Al Golden, Coach (Al) Washington and a couple other guys.
“They're great people. Great people, easy to get along with. You feel comfortable around them.”
Thomas enjoyed observing the linebacker meeting after practice.
“It was cool,” he said. “They just watched film of the practice, so I didn't really understand half the stuff they were talking about showing me, but it was cool. I saw how they interact with each other. I loved it.”
He also loved his campus tour.
“I loved it, loved it,” he said. “Just the atmosphere. It was during school hours, so I got to see all the students and how they go about their business during the day. It was dope for sure. It's a beautiful campus.”
He visited Pittsburgh on Friday and has some other stops planned later this spring.
“I'm going to Ohio State, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee, Miami-Ohio, Michigan and a few others,” he noted.
And he’ll be back at Notre Dame in a few months.
“I've got to go back to the camp in the summer. That's probably when they’re going to start speeding things up a little bit.”
