2027 RB Isaiah Rogers Blazes Way Onto Notre Dame Radar
Isaiah Rogers doesn’t turn heads as much as he whips them as he flies by.
The 2027 Massachusetts running back has blazed his way onto the radar of college programs across the country as he repeatedly posts eye-popping times. The Springfield Central High School star clocked a 6.61 in the 55-meter dash during indoor track in the winter before clocking a personal-best and school record 10.5 in the 100 meters during an outdoor meet last month.
Then, he backed that up with a 4.5-laser in the 40-yard dash at one of two regional camps he attended in New Jersey this past weekend.
And of course, all of those times come on the heels of an outstanding freshman season playing for a program that has established itself as a true Northeastern power.
Rogers joined a crowded backfield that wasn’t necessarily in need of talent, but the youngster forced his way onto the field and made it difficult for Eagles head coach Bill Watson to take him off it.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder has landed early offers from Boston College, Syracuse, Mississippi State and UMass.
“It's a blessing,” Rogers told Irish Sports Daily. “I just keep my head down and get to work. My coach, Steve Martin, he's a great coach and he's helping me out right now, talking to a lot of coaches.”
Rogers was pleased with his performance in New Jersey this weekend.
“I think it went pretty well,” he said. “I think I performed pretty good.
“I love competing. It is just good to watch people who are older than me and have more experience and be able to compete with them.”
It was enough for Rogers to gain additional interest from other schools, including Notre Dame, which was on the phone with Watson inquiring about his young speedster by Monday morning.
The Irish extended Rogers an invitation to their showcase camp, Irish Invasion on June 2nd.
“I've got to see because I got a couple camps during around that time that they had invited me to, so yeah, I've got to check to see on that,” he said.
He doesn’t know a ton about the Irish just yet, but he knows enough to be interested.
“I know it's in Indiana,” he said. “I know they had a couple good running backs come out of Notre Dame. I like the scheme, but I'll do a little bit more research.”
Rogers’ camp schedule hasn’t been finalized just yet, but he is looking at camping at Syracuse as well as Mississippi State. He said he will “definitely” be working out at the B.O.N.E. camp at Springfield College, which has quickly become one of the premier events in the Northeast each year.
And before that, Rogers figures to get a ton of attention, along with his Central classmate 2027 quarterback Jareth Staine, next week. The Eagles will be the final stop of Monday’s “Connecticut Showcase” that will also feature several Connecticut prep schools.
Coaches will be back in Rogers’ final decision along with environment and offensive system.
“I would say I'm a gun-type of guy. I really like running Inside Zone, counters, things like that. I can catch the ball too though. I can come out of the backfield in the flats, checkdowns, seam balls, anything that they want me to do.”
