2026 Safety Deacon King Recaps Notre Dame's Irish Invasion Camp
2026 Westfield (Ind.) safety Deacon King had a busy weekend.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder competed in the Indiana State Track meet on Saturday and then headed up to Notre Dame on Sunday for Irish Invasion.
King could have easily skipped the trip to Notre Dame, but he wanted to workout for the staff and also improve his game despite the tired legs.
“They were a little tired,” King told ISD. “My ankles hurt a little bit, but other than it was pretty good.”
The in-state prospect wanted to showcase some of the areas of focus this offseason, and it started with some of his footwork and ability to be explosive.
“I think I did pretty good,” explained King. “The one-on-ones were good. I think I was getting out of my breaks well and that’s what I’ve been mainly focused on this offseason.”
Notre Dame’s staff really pushed the receivers and defensive backs during the one-on-one portion of the camp as numbers were light, which meant heavy reps.
King was more than fine with that as it allowed him to show his improved man coverage skills.
“Mainly my improvements in man,” King said of what he showed the Irish staff. “That’s what I struggled on last year during the season and that’s where I’ve been really working on.”
When it comes to the next step in his process, King feels the Notre Dame staff likes him and he’s excited to see what’s next.
“I didn’t really get to talk to them after,” King stated. “When they came to the school, it seemed like they were pretty high on me.”
King will camp at Purdue and then the UIndy mega camp this week, but if Notre Dame were to offer, it’d be a big one.
“The campus is really nice,” said King. “My dad and mom also like it.”
Offers: Akron, Central Michigan, Purdue, Toledo and Western Michigan
