Connor Salmin’s first trip to Notre Dame certainly made an impression on the 2026 Virginia receiver.

“It was awesome,” Salmon told Irish Sports Daily. “We finally got to meet everyone and see the campus and facilities in person for the first time. That was our first time there, so it was nice to see everything.

“It was beautiful. We drove through the night before and saw everything. It was just really awesome to look at all the campus buildings and everything like that.”

The Irish offered the 6-foot-1, 190-pound speedster last month and he enjoyed his meetings with the staff.

“They were really good,” Salmin said. “We talked some football and we talked about school too because that's very important there at Notre Dame. We just got to know all the coaches because it was our first time meeting all of them in person.”

The Woodgrove High School star had individual meetings with wide receivers coach Mike Brown and head coach Marcus Freeman.

“We were just talking about things that I can be working on this offseason to get better,” Salmon said of himself and Brown. “Then we were talking about just things that they liked about my film, things they liked about me, and we were just talking about football stuff.”

The Irish decided they didn’t need to see Salmin at camp before offering in May.

“They really like my speed,” he said. “I think that's a really important thing and my ability to go get balls with my wingspan and my hands too, just to catch things. They said I'm a wide catcher is how they worded it.

“Obviously, they said the biggest thing for improvement for me was top of my route things, just because that was my first season at receiver, so I've got a lot of run, improve there. My speed was probably the biggest thing.”

Salmin, who grew up playing running back, was impressed with Freeman.

“He's a really good person,” he said. “It was really nice to meet in person and talked to him. We talked to him for 20, 30 minutes in his office and got to know him. We talked about school obviously, and sports and everything, his family. We just got to know about him and told him more about me.”

He also has offers from schools like North Carolina, Duke, Clemson, Georgia, Florida State, Penn State and Ohio State among several others.

Along with Notre Dame, he made stops at Ohio State, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and North Carolina this spring.

He’s hoping to return to South Bend later this year.

“We're going to hopefully try and get back there for a game at some point this season,” he said. “We haven't figured out what my schedule is for my actual season, so we still need to figure that out. Once we do, we are going to try to figure out where we're going to get for games.

“It was really awesome to get there. I'm glad we could make it there just to see it and compare everything to other schools we visited and compare the campus and facilities. Obviously the people is the biggest thing for me. It was really awesome to meet everyone and see how they really were in person.”
