2025 WR Isaiah Mizell Has Eyes Opened By Notre Dame Official
Isaiah Mizell came into this weekend’s official visit to Notre Dame with high expectations.
They were met…and then some.
“It was a really good weekend,” said the 2025 Florida receiver, who is currently committed to Arizona. “All of my expectations were fulfilled, so I've got a couple things to think about these next couple weeks.
“It being such a big-time school, I was expecting the gameday to be very, very big, very, very loud, very, very live and it lived up to all expectations.”
The Boone High School star was impressed with the Irish’s performance during their 31-24 win over Louisville.
“They played well,” Mizell said. “They had a couple turnovers, but it didn't stop them. They went into the fourth quarter comfortable. They were up about 10, so I wasn't really too worried about Notre Dame winning. It was a good game though, overall.”
The Orlando native was also impressed with the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium.
“They had traditions,” he said. “They were tossing people up, doing pushups. I've never seen that before. Everybody was in green paint. It was raining, but everybody stayed loud.”
The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder met with Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, receivers coach Mike Brown and general manager Chad Bowden.
Denbrock showed Mizell the potential of his scheme in South Bend in the coming years.
“He doesn't have all the pieces he wants, but we saw from his previous jobs where he's trying to go; a very explosive offense and he said I'm one of those pieces that he wants,” Mizell recalled.
“I still think their offense is real good right now, but he said once he gets all the pieces he needs, it's going to be real explosive.”
Mizell said seeing what Denbrock accomplished at previous stops provided additional credibility to what he was saying.
“Definitely more credibility,” he said. “He has physical proof of what he can do and we saw how explosive that offense was.”
Mizell enjoyed getting to know Freeman.
“He's just a regular dude,” said Mizell. “He is just real cool. He's real down to earth, knows how to talk to people. There wasn't nothing crazy. He was just a real nice dude who actually cares about how you're feeling, who you are.”
He had the opportunity to be around the current players on the roster and felt he’d fit in well with them.
“I was in the locker room after the game,” he said. “They were all really hype, real cool people, real cool people. They were all dancing, music playing, everybody was hype.”
Mizell had been thinking about taking additional visits to other schools, but said he has none planned at the moment and there’s a real chance he doesn’t take any more trips.
“I just need a couple weeks to think because this kind of opened my eyes,” he said. “I wasn't expecting to come here and just decommit from Arizona, but I've definitely got a couple things to think about and what's best for me in the future.
“Like I said, all my expectations were fulfilled. It's a very nice place, somewhere I could definitely see myself being the next couple years.”
