Evan Jacobson‍ made his first visit to Notre Dame this weekend.

The 2026 Iowa tight end left feeling good about the Irish, knowing he’s a priority for them and with a date to return.

“It was good,” the 6-foot-7, 220-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “It was a great visit. I really enjoyed being there, just being around everybody and got a ton out of it.”

Jacobson, who was offered by the Irish back in January, was able to watch a practice, tour the campus and see all the facilities. He also had meetings with head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Mike Denbrock and tight ends assistant Harris Bivin.

“I was with Coach Denbrock and Coach Bivin the whole time there,” the Waukee High School star said. “It was really good just getting to know them and I just felt comfortable around everybody there and really enjoyed my trip.”

Denbrock and Bivin let Jacobson know he is a priority for them.

“Somebody like me who is extremely versatile, they can flex me out, they can put me in line, they can put me in the backfield, do a ton of different stuff, is what they need and that I'm a huge priority for them and their guy,” he said. “They just made it super easy for me to feel comfortable talking to them, and just showed me everything that Notre Dame has to offer. Obviously, the tight end success is the best in the country. Then, you talk about the academics and the people and everything there.

“It obviously means a ton. It's something that really excites me and it just puts them in a really good place with me.”

Jacobson has a good feel for Denbrock and Bivin.

“I like them a ton,” he said. “I think the biggest thing that stuck out to me was just everybody there in general, just the people were amazing, super easy to talk to. You can just tell they want the program to succeed and they want you to succeed. I think those are some of the biggest things that stuck out to me.”

Next up for Jacobson are unofficials to Wisconsin and Florida State this coming week and Texas A&M next week.

He will return to South Bend this summer.

“I set an OV for June 20th to the 22nd, so I'll be back for that,” he said. “I just feel really good with Notre Dame.”

He also has officials set for Auburn and Florida State.

He’s planning to have a final decision after those officials.

“Probably before my senior season.”
