2027 LB Jake Godfree Excited To See What Notre Dame Has To Offer
With more than 40 offers already, Jake Godfree is going to have to get to work to figure out what option is best for him.
Fortunately, the 2027 Georgia linebacker has a good idea of what he’s looking for and he’s ready to put in that work.
“I'm just trying to enjoy the process, enjoy what I have,” Godfree says. “It's definitely a blessing for sure. But I think it just goes to prove all the hard work that I put in.
“It's just good to see all that hard work coming to a result. I'm just enjoying it, again, trying to soak it all in. You only have this moment once in your life.”
The North Gwinnett High School standout will visit Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and LSU over the next few weeks.
The offer from the Irish caught Godfree’s attention.
“Hearing from them about their culture and who they are and where they stand, that offer really did mean a lot to me,” he says. “And just seeing the production that they had this year too, going and playing in the National Championship, that meant a lot to me too, knowing that they can develop players like that. Again, just knowing what kind of culture they have and that family bond that they have, I love to see it.”
The 6-foot, 215-pounder first hit Notre Dame’s radar when defensive line assistant Nick Sebastian stopped by North Gwinnett and then passed his information along to linebackers coach Max Bullough.
Godfree and Bullough have since started talking.
“It was good getting to talk to him, but he really wanted me to come up this June 6th and hang out with him so we can further build that relationship,” he says. “From what I've heard, I think it's a great place.”
And he’ll get his chance to see it for himself when he takes Bullough up on that invitation to visit on June 6th.
“I have this little motto, I call it the three C's in what I'm really looking for; Culture, Community and Coaches,” he says. “I feel like those are the three things that I really want to see in a school. I feel like if you had those three aspects and those are strong, then that should be a good school to go to.
“Culture as in who am I going to be around, who are the players? Who are the coaches that I'm going to be around? What's the family atmosphere? And then Community, the fans, how is that? I know Notre Dame has tons of history. I know their fans love Notre Dame. And then finally the coaches who are going to be coaching me, how are they going to coach?”
