2027 LB Garyon Hobbs Reflects on Impressive First Visit to Notre Dame
2027 Atherton (Ky.) linebacker Garyon Hobbs made his first trip to Notre Dame last weekend for Irish Invasion and it didn’t disappoint.
“It was my first time coming up,” stated Hobbs. “I got to meet all the coaches, staff, assistant coaches, and I got to meet players that are also being recruited and see how their process is going.”
Already holding an offer from the Irish, Hobbs was especially excited to get a feel for linebackers coach Max Bullough on the field.
The Kentucky native got exactly what he was looking for, spending roughly two hours with Bullough during the camp.
“He can be intense,” said Hobbs. “It was pretty great. He's a great coach. He coaches on effort and that's something that I pride myself on in my effort.”
The visit didn’t end with camp. Hobbs stuck around afterward for a campus cookout with the staff, which allowed him to get a feel for Notre Dame’s coaches and recruits.
“It was pretty fun and I liked the campus,” explained Hobbs. “It was really big, really a good experience for me. I liked that we got to barbecue with the coaches and everything. Pretty good experience.”
After the opportunity to experience Notre Dame, the 6-foot, 215-pounder is aware of what it means, but also the expectations for Notre Dame student-athletes.
“That’s a pretty big name if you think about colleges,” Hobbs said. “I feel it’s really good on my part getting that offer. I like standing by their expectations.”
Hobbs has high expectations placed on him as well entering the 2025 season. He trains with former Notre Dame player Chris Vaughn, who has helped develop Hobbs for years.
“We call it Aspirations, and that's really like our brand,” Hobbs said of the training facilities. “He's been developing me since I was in seventh grade. It's been my speed, strength, everything's been getting better since I've been training with him.”
As for what’s next, Hobbs will continue to hit the recruiting trail before shifting his focus to his junior year.
“I plan on going to Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio State,” said Hobbs.
