2027 CB Allen Evans Impresses at Irish Invasion, Enjoys Notre Dame Experience
Notre Dame’s coaching staff places a premium on in-person evaluations, and 2027 Trinity (Ky.) cornerback Allen Evans was one of the top prospects under the microscope at last week’s Irish Invasion.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder didn’t disappoint as he put on a show for Mike Mickens and the defensive staff.
“Things went real good,” Evans stated. “Starting with testing and going into skill drills. The one-on-ones felt real good being against other top guys in the country. The coaches were surprised by my 40 time (4.4/4.5).”
Evans was also excited about the opportunity to work with Mickens, a name every cornerback recruit knows at this point.
“It was really good,” Evans said. “He's one of the best in the country, for sure. He knows what he’s talking about.”
“So definitely a great experience to just get on campus, get around like-minded guys who know what they're talking about.”
Mickens and the Irish staff made it clear Evans is on their radar and encouraged a return visit this fall.
“They said that this is just the beginning,” stated Evans. “They want to build a relationship with me and be back for games this year.”
Evans was also excited to test himself against a high-quality receiver. Notre Dame had several receivers and tight ends on campus with national offer lists, which gave Evans some extra juice.
“It was good, for sure,” Evans explained. “I'd say it was a challenge because going against other guys who are at the same level as me and then going against receivers that are at the same level as I am, it just felt great to just compete and get the work in to get to where I'm trying to be.”
Notre Dame also hosted Evans for the BBQ following the camp, which allowed him to get a better feel for the Irish staff and the players they are recruiting.
“Definitely being able to build a bond with the coaches and build a bond with other guys who are being recruited like I am,” Evan said of the BBQ. “Just to feel the experience of being on this campus, it was really a blessing to be able to be a part of such a great program and such a great team.”
Evans isn’t slowing down his summer schedule as he’ll stop at two SEC programs next.
“Next week I go to Alabama and then on June 22nd I go to Tennessee,” said Evans.
