2027 Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) receiver Isaiah Alvarez‍ made the most of his trip to South Bend for Notre Dame’s Irish Invasion last week, emerging as one of the top performers at the camp.

The 6-foot, 160-pounder turned heads throughout the camp, especially during one-on-ones, where he felt he made a clear statement.

“It was a great experience,” stated Alvarez. “This was my second camp that I've ever been to, so it was really nice and fun. I did well in the one-on-ones. At the end, they called certain people to see who did the best, and then I won that.”

In addition to his big day, Alvarez did it against quality defensive backs, which should give him confidence moving forward.

“The competition, it's always going to be good,” said Alvarez. “I just felt like I dominated. I didn't lose a rep. That's always a plus.”

The negative of the day was the grilling competition. Alvarez had some strong feelings toward the offensive line that won the grill off.

“It was fun,” laughed Alvarez. “I've never seen it or heard of it before. We got robbed. The receivers got robbed. I think we should have been top three.”

Notre Dame receivers coach Mike Brown made sure to spend time with the New Jersey native after the camp and made it clear he wanted Alvarez to get back to campus in the fall.

“They just told me that they want me to come back down and watch a game,” Alvarez stated. “They're going to keep in touch with me. Just keep visiting and they're going to keep in touch.”

Alvarez appreciated Brown’s coaching style and left with the belief that he could see himself playing for the Irish assistant.

“I thought it was good,” explained Alvarez. “He does a lot of top of the route stuff. Catching the ball, all that type of stuff and then just the way he coaches.

“I would say he is a coach I would see myself playing for.”

The summer camp circuit isn’t ending any time soon for Alvarez as he’ll make several more stops this month.

“I'm actually going to SMU for a visit, and then the day after, Texas A&M camp. The week after that, I think I'm going to NC State and Duke.”
