Top 2027 Edge Zyron Forstall Excited For First Notre Dame Visit
Zyron Forstall will see Notre Dame in person for the first time this week.
The 2027 IMG edge rusher is scheduled to visit South Bend from March 19 through March 21 as the Irish continue working to build momentum with one of the more intriguing defensive prospects in the class.
The Louisiana native holds offers from Notre Dame, LSU, Miami, Texas A&M, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, USC and Ole Miss among many others.
Notre Dame quickly caught Forstall’s attention because of the balance it offers between academics and athletics.
“They value high education and high level football,” Forstall said. “That goes hand in hand in today’s world because there’s more to life after football and a degree from there would be pretty substantial.”
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder has begun developing relationships with the Irish staff, including defensive line coach Charlie Partridge and called the transition from Al Washington to Partridge “smooth.”
“I’ve been getting to know him pretty well,” Forstall said of Partridge. “We’ve been calling and building a relationship over time.”
Head coach Marcus Freeman has also been involved early in the process.
“He called me (the other day) and he’s come to the school a few times,” Forstall said. “Our relationship’s really good. He checks up on me a lot and I enjoy talking to him.”
This weekend’s trip will give Forstall a chance to explore the academic side of Notre Dame while also getting a closer look at the program’s defensive scheme.
“They’re going to show me around campus and some majors,” Forstall said. “I want to talk to the players about what majors they’re doing and how they balance football with school.”
He also plans to focus on how he might fit into Notre Dame’s defense.
“A main thing for me is the defensive front they run,” Forstall said. “I want to see where I would fit and how versatile I could be in their defense.”
The visit will also give him an opportunity to see the team culture up close.
“I want to see how the guys are without the coaches there standing over them,” Forstall said. “How they work in the weight room and how they practice.”
Forstall’s IMG teammate and Notre Dame commit Amarri Irvin has already played a role in sparking his interest in the Irish.
“He’s the one who really told me about Notre Dame and the culture there and it piqued my interest,” Forstall said.
Forstall plans to continue taking unofficials visits before narrowing his focus and setting official visits later in the process.
“I’m going to take some spring visits and then after that I’ll take my officials.”
