Notre Dame made its vision for Noah Glover clear during Junior Day last weekend and it was a picture the linebacker enjoyed seeing.
The 2027 Virginia linebacker returned to South Bend for a more complete look and came away impressed with the scheme, the fit and the overall environment with Marcus Freeman’s program.
“It went really good,” Glover told Irish Sports Daily. “I really liked the environment and all that. It felt like a good place. Talking to Coach Freeman and everything was amazing. So I really enjoyed my time this weekend.”
The 6-foot, 205-pounder had the opportunity to see multiple aspects of the program.
“I got to watch the practice, saw the meetings,” Glover said. “I liked it a lot. So it made me like the visit a lot. I got to hang out with the players and that was very fun. Just everything. It was a very good visit.”
The Battlefield High School standout also spent time in both team and individual meetings, giving him a better understanding of how the staff operates.
“They were going through the defense, all of that,” he said. “Then I had my individual meeting and they just talked to me and it just felt good.”
The Haymarket, Va., native connected with multiple members of the defensive staff, including linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, defensive coordinator Chris Ash and Freeman.
Glover already had a relationship with Jean-Mary from the coach’s time at Michigan and said that connection only strengthened during the visit.
“It was fun,” Glover said. “It was good. I’ve already liked Coach Jean-Mary, so just having him at Notre Dame, it just feels good since I’ve already had a good connection with him at Michigan.”
Freeman also made a strong impression, particularly given his background at the position.
“Coach Freeman, he’s a good dude,” Glover said. “He’s just somebody you want to be around and I feel like he definitely knows what he’s talking about. So if you’re looking for somebody for advice, I feel like Coach Freeman’s that dude.”
During those meetings, the Irish staff laid out how they envision using Glover within the defense.
“They would use me as a Will or Sam and then off the edge and I’d blitz a lot,” he said. “Use me downhill so as a blitzer since I can get to the quarterback.”
That role fits what Glover is looking for at the next level.
While the visit checked multiple boxes, Glover is still working through his recruitment and evaluating his options.
“Not sure yet, but I’m definitely trying to figure stuff out,” he said.
The next phase of that process will include several visits across the country this spring. Glover was at Miami this weekend and then has Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, Texas and Virginia Tech coming up.
He is focused on getting a deeper feel for each school.
For Notre Dame, the next step remains open-ended, though a return for an official is certainly what the Irish are hoping for.
After getting a more complete look this time around, Glover left with a clear takeaway.
“I feel really good about them right now.”
