2019 Kentucky ATH Excited For Notre Dame Atmosphere
The Notre Dame coaching staff wanted to get Aidan Robbins to South Bend to experience a game atmosphere and the 2019 Kentucky athlete decided this weekend’s game against USC fit his schedule best.
The decision was more when than if for the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder from Louisville.
“It’s Notre Dame,” he said. “Whenever you hear ‘Notre Dame,’ you automatically think tradition. I really value tradition. I go to a school that represents tradition very well. I think Notre Dame would be a great fit for me, so that’s why I wanted to go see it for myself.
“I’ve heard that they have a sellout crowd every home game. I want to see that for myself. I haven’t been to a Notre Dame game. I always see them. They have them in the movies. I’ve heard great things about it and I just want to see it for myself.”
Robbins could end up on either side of the ball in college and already has scholarship offers from Louisville, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Cincinnati among others.
“It’s all a blessing,” the Dupont Manual High School standout said. “I’m just taking it all in stride and performing to the best of my ability every game and thanking God along the way. It’s a great feeling though because it’s given me more time to figure out what suits me best and where I need to go in this recruiting process.”
Robbins doesn’t necessarily have a group of leaders at this point, but a few schools certainly have his attention.
“South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Louisville and Cincinnati are definitely sticking out to me right now,” he said. “All of those good schools have great people on the staff, great environment, great coaches.”
In addition to Notre Dame, Robbins is also receiving interest from Ohio State and others. Position isn’t a huge concern of his.
“Notre Dame is recruiting me as a linebacker,” he said. “I have offers to play running back. I’m just an athlete. I’ll play wherever suits the team best. That’s what I’m doing at Manual right now. I can play anything the coaches want me to play, so I don’t want to limit myself.”
He does know what will be important when decision time comes.
“Definitely the people involved within the program, the staff, the fans because I love to play in front of big crowds. I love having large fan support. The academic stuff definitely stands out to me because football doesn’t last forever and I want to be able to get to the job force one day and have a prime job. That means a lot to me. Family, them being able to watch me play, location is relative to that.”
