El Camino High School sophomore quarterback DJ Ralph‍ was in South Bend Saturday to watch Notre Dame take on USC and an amazing visit made has increased his interest in the Irish.

“I am going to follow them a lot more and watch more of their games, this has made me a bigger fan because before I didn’t watch them too much, but after the visit and getting to know the coaches it made me appreciate Notre Dame more,” the 2020 prospect expressed. “I am very interested in Notre Dame now.”

As soon as he arrived on campus, Ralph was able to see everything he wanted to plus some and the genuineness from everyone made it even better.

“We toured the facilities, like the weight room, the training rooms and I got to take pictures in the jersey,” he recalled. “That was my favorite that was really cool. It was amazing, we got there and everywhere we went, the people were so nice. I forgot my tour guide’s name, but he was awesome. It felt like a big family.”

After the visit and the tour of the campus, the young quarterback summed up the campus in one simple phrase.

“Everything was perfect, pretty and well taken care of,” expressed the youngster.

After the tour of campus and facilities, it was time for Ralph to witness the Irish playing on all cylinders surrounded by an amazing atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium.

“They destroyed them, they were physical and I remember after the game the coach said, ‘The reason we won that game because we were more physical than them,’” he said. “They were just demolishing them if you watched the line.

“I was sitting right behind where the students were, it was so loud and you could just feel it whenever something was happening and it felt like the stadium was shaking. It was amazing.”

The 2020 quarterback really keyed in on Irish signal-caller Brandon Wimbush and how the Irish offense operated.

“I focused on Wimbush a lot, that is the first time I actually watched him and he is amazing, he can run, he is a game-changer,” said the 6-foot-3 190-pound quarterback. “I liked how the offense worked, how they threw the ball all around the field, everything was awesome.”

During the visit, Ralph was able to speak with a friend who is on the Irish roster, as well as a few Irish coaches.

“After the game I got to talk to Jordan Genmark, we played seven-on-seven together when he lived in San Diego and he was just checking up on me and see how I was doing, and I also got to talk to the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach,” explained the California native.

The future is exciting for Ralph and Notre Dame since the youngster and his father were left with exciting news.

“Coach (Brian) Polian said they are going to take a close look at DJ after the season and evaluate his film after the season and we are very excited about that.” Mr. Ralph said.

Even with the increased interest in Notre Dame, the youngster has plenty of time to visit other schools and he has visits to UCLA and Stanford scheduled coming up.
