2020 defensive back Ayden Hector‍ will be in South Bend this weekend alongside a pair of 2020 Eastside Catholic High School teammates, tight end DJ Rogers and running back Sam Adams. After Hector’s parents received an email from Notre Dame inviting him to a game, he decided to take the trip.

“I have (heard from) their head coach, who had emailed my coach saying that I was on Notre Dame’s watch list and that he wanted me to visit this weekend, so I am going to make that trip,” Hector expressed.

The Washington native has limited knowledge about Notre Dame, but does know the Irish have a very good football team and would love to play for them if given the chance.

“I know that they are in Indiana, but their football team is going to be one of the top teams that I would like to play on if I got the chance too,” expressed the 2020 recruit.

Seeing Notre Dame’s recent success and knowing the school’s academic reputation increased his interest and was a big reason he decided to visit.

“I have seen that they are starting to do really well in college today and their academics are also very good because I would not just go there for football, but to also get a good education.” explained Hector.

During his visit, Hector has some things he would like to see and learn more about.

“I want to see their stadium and their sports facilities and see all their training equipment and learn about the training that they do and also tour the campus,” said Hector.

Hector has already visited Washington and has a couple more visits scheduled for the near future.

“I am going to visit Oregon and go down to USC coming up,” explained the Eastside Catholic sophomore.

The 2020 standout has not only visited some schools, but has also landed an early offer from USC and has accumulated interest from many other schools.

“Notre Dame, UW, Oregon, Cal and Eastern Washington are all showing a lot of interest in me right now,” Hector listed.

The youngster is being recruited as a cornerback, but also explained he is comfortable enough to play safety as well.

“When I first started playing defensive back, I started as a safety, but for the past two years I have played cornerback and is the position I am being recruited at,” the 6-foot-1, 183-pounder said. “I am also comfortable playing safety too.”

Hector has the size and speed that coaches at the Division-I level love, but it is his hard work, feel for the game and skillset that sets him apart.

“Coaches say my coverage, my feet and my tackling skills are good, but mainly they like how I always around the ball and how I am aggressive I am,” said Hector.

Although he’s young and has a long way until he has to make his decision, he has thought about what factors will go into that choice.

“What kind of relationship I have with the coaches and how much chemistry I have between them because when I go there that is going to be important to if I play.”
