Jimmy Christ‍ hadn’t heard much from Notre Dame until recently, but it didn’t take much to get the 2020 Virginia offensive lineman’s attention and to get him out to South Bend for Saturday’s game against Wake Forest.

Christ was impressed.

“It was great,” the 6-foot-6, 245-pounder from Sterling, Va., said. “The fans were really pumped up for the game. It’s a huge stadium.

“They played good. They started off good. Notre Dame scored right before the half to really set the tone.”

The talented sophomore has early offers from Virginia and Appalachian State. He liked the campus in South Bend.

“It looked really cool,” he said. “It looked really Catholic. It looked really neat. It sort of reminded me of Boston College a little bit.”

Christ has three older brothers who are currently playing college football and his father and uncle also played, so this isn’t all that new to him.

He had a chance to speak with some of the Irish staff members.

“We talked to the coaches and we enjoyed the game,” he said. “I didn’t get the chance to talk to the o-line coach, but I did get the chance to talk to the linebackers coach who recruits my area.”

He also heard from some of the recruiting staff.

“They said to keep sending them info and to try and stay in contact,” he said.

Christ, who heads to West Virginia for another unofficial in a couple of weeks, plans on doing exactly that.

“I never heard from them before a couple of weeks ago when they sent me the invitation for the game,” he said.

“Now that I went to the game and met the coaches, I’m going to be in contact more.”
