2019 Four-Star OL Bryan Hudson Impressed By Jeff Quinn
2019 Scott County (Ky.) offensive lineman Bryan Hudson was patient, and it paid off. The four-star prospect had been to South Bend twice and left without an offer, but Notre Dame offered Hudson last week after offensive line coach Jeff Quinn made a trip to Kentucky.
“It means a lot to get it,” Hudson told Irish Sports Daily. “It’s a huge honor. For them to put that much faith into me to give me the opportunity to get a prestigious education means a lot to me.”
The 6-foot-4, 290-pounder actually got the offer from Quinn over the phone, and it meant a lot to Hudson.
“He spoke to my head coach for quite a while, and he watched me workout,” Hudson said. “I called him after he left and he offered me, so I got to talk to him quite a bit.”
Quinn made a big impression on Hudson as his passion for Notre Dame, and the game of football came through in the phone conversation.
“I like him a lot,” explained Hudson. “He seems like a very honest man, and he’s very passionate about Notre Dame. He cares about the tradition and legacy of Notre Dame too.
“He’s very passionate about the game of football, which I love. He seems like a great guy and a great coach.”
Alabama, Duke, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech have also offered Hudson, and the offer from the Irish came at the right time.
“I’m starting to narrow in on a group of schools that I’ll go visit again,” stated Hudson. “Now that Notre Dame has offered, they are in that category, and I will see them again.”
When he returns to South Bend, Hudson wants to get a feel for the academic side of the school as he has a grasp on the football side of things.
“I’ve been to Notre Dame twice for games, so I’ve seen most of the football part of it,” Hudson said. “I’d really like to see the academic side and meet some of the academic staff they have up there.
“I’d also love to sit down with coach Kelly and coach Quinn and talk some football for a little bit.”
Hudson is targeting an earlier commitment date, but he’s also not going to force a commitment if it doesn’t feel right.
“I’m hoping to get a decision made before my senior year starts,” stated Hudson. “That’s the goal, but if I’m not 100 percent comfortable, then it would be as soon as I am ready to make the decision.”
When it comes to official visits, Hudson hasn’t 100 percent decided on when he will take them, but he’s leaning towards passing on the chance to make them in the spring.
“I’ve thought about it a little bit,” said Hudson. “As of right now, I don’t think I’m going to take any in the spring. Then again, I haven’t really sat down with my parents and talked about it with them.
“I don’t really count on making them this spring, but we’ll see I guess.”
