2022 WR Reggie Fleurima Gets New Look At Notre Dame
Living in Illinois and having a father who played football for Notre Dame, Reggie Fleurima has been to South Bend several times in the past.
But these days, when the 2022 Illinois wide receiver makes the trip down, it’s as a recruit.
The Naperville Central High School standout was on campus for the Irish’s primetime tilt with USC recently.
“I loved it,” Fleurima said. “I loved the environment, the game and everything leading up to the game. I thought it was very well organized. The people there treated us well.
“I thought was a great game. I honestly liked that it was actually a good game. It kept the fans in it the entire game. I thought the energy was great, just sitting there and watching everyone and being that close to the field was an unreal feeling.”
The son of the former Notre Dame defensive lineman by the same name already has offers from schools like Illinois, MIssouri, Minnesota and Virginia Tech among others.
He was also in South Bend for Irish Invasion back in the summer and got to see many things again.
“They showed us the weight room,” he explained. “They showed us where the players have their position meetings. They showed us where they have all of their Heismans and trophies. They showed us the locker rooms, they told us what the players’ preparation is leading up to the game.”
The visitors also had the chance to go on the field during pregame warmups.
Fleurima was able to catch up with Irish receivers coach Del Alexander and assistant Tom Rees, who is his area recruiter.
“I didn’t really go in depth,” he explained. “I did catch up with Coach Rees after the game, my dad and I talked to him for a little bit. He said he might be stopping by during the bye week.”
Fleurima doesn’t have any other visits locked in yet, but has some in mind for himself and friend, 2022 quarterback Kaden Cobb, who was also in South Bend.
“I know Minnesota wants me and Kaden to go up there for a game. I know Illinois wants me and Kaden to go up. Cincinnati talked to us, but it’s going to be harder for them because they’re farther away. I’ve been trying to get to a Michigan State game because there a few older players who used to play at Naperville Central who now play at Michigan State.”
