The Under All-America Game gave Notre Dame fans a chance to see what some of the future holds, as quarterback Avery Davis, tight end Brock Wright, offensive lineman Robert Hainsey, athlete Paulson Adebo, linebacker David Adams and linebacker target Ellis Brooks.
Wright and Hainsey stole the show doing a little bit of everything during the game.
Brock Wright - #87 - White
On this play, Wright is able to get out in space and takes the edge away from the defender, while his running back gets a huge hole. Not an overly impressive play in terms of Wright doing some “incredible”, but it’s an area where the Irish have struggled. Wright gets down the seam by using a subtle hesitation move for 26 yards. Another play that isn’t going to blow people away, but it’s something that could get Wright on the field sooner than later. The play breaks down and Wright comes back to the ball to help bail out his quarterback.
Finally for Wright, he chips his guy then has enough speed to work his way across the field to catch a wide open two-point conversion. Robert Hainsey - #56 – White
Hey this play is fun. Quarterback draw right behind Hainsey at left guard. The four-star prospect drive his guy off the ball, then pancakes the defender 10 yards down the field. Once again at left guard, Hainsey shows his ability to not give up ground in the pass game against a powerful defensive tackle. Great job at taking on the defender one-on-one and forms a nice pocket.
On this play, Hainsey is playing right tackle against K’Lavon Chaisson, who had three sacks in the game. Hainsey plays under control and uses his feet to not let the four-star defensive end get the edge.
Hainsey is back at right guard and Harry Hiestand has to love this. The IMG Academy star chips the defensive lineman before advancing to the second level and takes fellow Notre Dame commit Davis Adams completely out of the hole so his running back scores with ease. Avery Davis – #3 – Gray
On a designed draw, Davis takes off on 3rd and 11. He almost picks up the first down, but an incredible open field tackle is made. Davis ran for for the first down the next play, but this play simply shows his ability to really accelerate and go in the run game. Now this isn’t a big-time highlight, but it shows the ability for Davis to make the correct read in the read option game. Davis pulls the ball, makes a cut and easily picks up the first down on 4th and 2.
On this play, Davis hit Jeff Thomas in stride on a quick pass to the flats and watched Thomas do all the work on the 79-yard score. However, it shows the ability to make the simple pass, which is something DeShone Kizer didn’t do at times over the last two season. Paulson Adebo - #11 – Gray
While he didn’t get many chance to show his playmaking ability, Adebo does show his explosiveness as a receiver. He turns a short pass into a first down, as he breaks a tackle and almost broke it for a huge gain if there was five more yards to the sideline.
