Notre Dame QB Commit Steve Angeli Feels Spoiled By 2022 Skill Talent

With commitments from CJ Williams‍ and Tobias Merriweather‍ within the last week to go with longtime Notre Dame wide receiver commit Amorion Walker‍, 2022 Irish quarterback Steve Angeli‍ says he feels spoiled.

“100 percent,” Angeli says. “No doubt. When you get a chance to get arguably the two top wide receiver prospects on the West Coast, it's almost like an early Christmas present to me in a sense.”

The Bergen Catholic signal-caller has been involved with virtually all of the Irish’s top recruiting targets since making his own commitment back in March.

Angeli was fired up about Williams’ announcement on Sunday.

“Just being able to have such versatile receiver like CJ adds to this class is going to be a huge impact,” Angeli says of the California wideout, who chose Notre Dame over schools like USC, Stanford, Alabama and Texas.

“Obviously, the talent is off the charts, but being able to get to know him as a person and who he is is really valuable as well with him being such a great locker room guy. I'm super excited to get him on board and to know that someone that has his talent and his work ethic and his mindset is going to be able to be in that receiver corps, I'm really excited to be able to throw the ball to him during my time at Notre Dame.”

Merriweather announced his commitment last Wednesday.

“Tobias is taller dude, he's a big dude and also a super-fast guy,” Angeli says. “Obviously, a great red zone threat, a great route-runner and obviously he has burning speed, so having him add to the class as well is also a great building block to putting the '22 class where it should be on the national scale.

“And also getting to know him as a guy has been great, to know what he's about and where he comes from. How he is off the football field is definitely a great thing to know that he's going to fit right in with the Notre Dame culture.”

Angeli says Williams and Merriweather are “like a two-headed dragon” while also being sure not to leave out Walker.

“You can't forget about Amorion, who's also a super talented guy.”
