Weekend Recruiting Wrap
Notre Dame’s current commits have been producing at a high level this season and this past weekend was no different.
Burnham Does It All
2022 Irish linebacker commit Joshua Burnham does it all for Traverse City Central, playing both sides of the ball, including quarterback.
He put up monster numbers in Traverse City Central’s 56-0 win over Petoskey this weekend.
Burnham rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, while adding another 89 yards and two scores on 7-for-11 passing and also registering 10 tackles and a sack.
But what may have been most impressive is the fact that he racked up those kind of numbers despite sitting most of the second half of this blowout.
Sneed Comes Up Just Short
Burnham’s future linebacker-mate in South Bend, Jaylen Sneed, performs similar duties for his Hilton Head squad, but unfortunately, his Hilton Head squad came up short this weekend, losing to Wade Hampton 28-24 despite a huge performance from him.
Sneed ran for 109 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries while adding another 43 yards on 7 if 14 passing. He also racked up 21 tackles on defense.
Merriweather Shows Up In All Three Phases
2022 Notre Dame wide receiver commit Tobias Merriweather didn’t wait long to make his impact in Union’s 42-19 win over Chiawana.
Merriweather (pictured above) had a 30-yard pick-6 on the game’s very first play from scrimmage.
He later scored on an 87-yard kickoff return and finished with seven catches for 121 yards and a touchdown.
Angeli, Bellamy Get Revenge On Don Bosco
After losing a heartbreaker to Don Bosco last year, Irish commits Steve Angeli and Jayden Bellamy helped Bergen Catholic to a 17-0 win this season.
Angeli broke off a 62-yard run on the first drive and finished with 97 rushing yards on eight carries along with 111 passing yards on 11-of-16 throwing.
Another Productive Price Performance
Notre Dame running back commit JD Price busted loose for a 69-yard touchdown run in Denison’s 27-20 win over Frisco Rock Hill.
Price finished with 169 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries and also hauled in a two-point conversion reception.
Shuler Shows Up On Offense
2023 defensive back commit Adon Shuler is making the most of his remaining days on the offensive side of the ball. The New Jersey athlete caught two passes for two touchdowns – 28 and 62 yards 0 in Irvington’s 28-0 win over West Side.
And How About This?
Brauntae Johnson isn’t a Notre Dame commit. In fact, the 2024 Indiana athlete doesn’t even have an Irish offer yet. He is on their radar after a camp performance and the football/basketball prospect has offers for both sports, including from Purdue.
His North Side squad was on the wrong end of a 49-7 game against Homestead, but Johnson delivered the Play of the Week.
