Notre Dame Commit Tracker
It was the first week of the season for many Notre Dame commits, and many of the future Fighting Irish players had huge weeks in Week 1.
One thing is clear from this past weekend, the Irish are adding a special set of pass-catchers with the trio they have committed in the Class of 2024.
Illinois wideout Cam Williams began his season in a big way.
The Glenbard South standout led his team to a season-opening 56-21 victory, scoring five touchdowns as a receiver and returner in a Week 1 victory over East Aurora High School.
Williams’ speed was on full display as he scored three touchdowns in the first half before tacking on two more in the second.
Meanwhile, it was Week 2 for North Carolina receiver Micah Gilbert and he had a monster game as well, helping Charlotte Christian High School to a 34-13 come-from-behind win.
Trailing 13-3 at the half, Charlotte Christian and Gilbert came alive after the break, with Gilbert catching an 18-yard score and rushing for a 3-yard touchdown. He finished with 160 yards.
Fellow Notre Dame commit and Charlotte Christian star, Bryce Young added a couple of sacks, pressuring the opposing quarterback all night as well as a forcing a fumble that resulted in Gilbert’s rushing score.
Out in California, Logan Saldate had a night of his own for Palma High School in its season-opener Thursday. Saldate helped lead Palma to a big 41-12 victory over Soledad with 171 receiving yards on 6 catches and two touchdowns.
And that was in the first half alone as Saldate says he didn’t get any action beyond the second quarter.
CJ SMOOTH DOES HIS THING: The guy who is set to be in charge of feeding those playmakers in South Bend opened his own season in impressive fashion on Thursday night, as quarterback commit CJ Carr led Saline to a 42-3 win over Brighton.
Carr was his usual efficient self, completing 21 of 28 passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns, including one on the ground.
IRISH BACKS PERFORM: Texas running back Kedren Young had a huge game as the Lufkin Panthers defeated Tyler Legacy 31-7 on Friday.
Young rushed the ball 18 times for 149 yards and three touchdowns, including a 68-yard scamper during the blowout victory.
Missouri’s Aneyas Williams had a solid game, but his Hannibal High School squad fell to Helias 49-13. Williams had 116 rushing yards and a score, but it wasn’t nearly enough.
LARSEN DOES IT AGAIN: A week after catching three touchdowns in his season-opener Irish tight end commit Jack Larsen added another one.
Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic rolled over Northern Durham 49-0 with Larsen hauling in a 39-yard score during the blowout.
