Notre Dame Weekend Recruiting Preview | 2025 O-Line Prospects
Saturday’s game against Ohio State isn’t just the biggest game on Notre Dame’s schedule this season, it also represents the biggest recruiting event for the Irish this season.
Notre Dame will be hosting dozens of prospects from across the country in multiple classes for the primetime atmosphere.
Here’s a look at some of three of the top offensive line prospects who are expected to be in attendance.
2025 Connecticut OL Matty Augustine
Augustine saw his recruitment go to another level when he reclassified to the Class of 2025.
He’s visited South Bend multiple times within the last year, including for June’s Lineman’s Challenge, when he landed his offer, and was July’s Grill & Chill.
Augustine is an obvious fit for Notre Dame from a character standpoint and an offer sheet that also includes Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin among several others shows he’s an on-the-field fit as well.
The 6-foot-7, 290-pounder has a huge frame along with the athleticism of a one-time AAU basketball player.
Notre Dame looks to be in tremendous position with Augustine, but he’s been adamant about not making a final decision until the end of November at the earliest.
He visited Wisconsin earlier in the season and will be at Michigan at the end of the year for the Wolverines’ game against Ohio State.
Augustine’s Brunswick School teammate and friend, safety Ethan Long, will also be in South Bend this weekend. The two would love to play together in college.
2025 Wisconsin OL Michael Roeske
Roeske visited South Bend in the spring and left with an offer from the Irish after meeting offensive line coach Joe Rudolph and head coach Marcus Freeman.
“I was able to talk to Coach Rudolph, Coach Freeman, and just see the campus and learn about their past experience and all their championships are undefeated seasons and just learn about the history of Notre Dame,” he told ISD this week.
“It's exciting for me because when I think about college football, I think about Notre Dame being the top school and the one that everyone wants to go to and play for.”
He’s looking forward to returning this weekend.
“I'm ready to see Notre Dame beat Ohio State,” he said.
Roeske will be paying close attention to how the Irish play, especially the offensive line under Rudolph. He’s also hoping to reconnect with Rudolph and Freeman in person.
The Irish will certainly have to beat the in-state Badgers. Roeske was at Wisconsin’s game this past week and has plans to get games at Illinois and Purdue later in the season.
2025 Wisconsin OL Owen Strebig
There is no doubt Strebig is a major priority for the Irish this cycle. And right now, Notre Dame feels it’s in great shape with him.
Strebig has already been to Notre Dame multiple times this year; making stops in April, June and July, so that optimism is not unfounded.
Wisconsin is obviously a threat for Strebig as well, but don’t count out USC either. He’s made the cross-country visit to see the Trojans once already and has plans to return in November.
Notre Dame does look like the team to beat, but this one isn’t over yet.
