2027 Wayne (Ohio) wide receiver Jamier Brown‍ lived up to his billing as the nation’s top-ranked receiver with a dominant showing at Sunday’s Under Armour camp in Ohio.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pounder has also seen his game take off over the last year and part of that is due to maturing as he sees his potential. Sunday’s workout confirmed Brown was one of the nation’s best if there was any question.

“I’m definitely a better route runner,” Brown said. “I’m better at separation and I have a better work ethic. I have a better mindset than I did last year.”

A composite five-star prospect, Brown committed to Ohio State in November. He came into the camp motivated, especially after seeing former Buckeye Emeka Egbuka become the fifth Ohio State receiver in four years to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

“It makes me think I made a great decision,” stated Brown. “It’s great to have top receivers to go in the first round and I obviously want to be part of that. I’m going to accomplish everything I can to be part of that.”

While Ohio State’s track record of developing elite receivers played a major role in his decision, the overall culture sealed the deal.

“It just felt like home,” explained Brown. “(Brian) Hartline is a great coach. Coach (Ryan) Day is a great coach. Great people. It’s just lovely there and they have a lot of great people. It’s a great environment. Hartline wants to see me get better each and every day. He really had a good connection with me and we have a great connection now. He loved talking to my family, so I love Ohio State.”

Brown recently visited Notre Dame, but he clarified it wasn’t a recruiting trip.

“One of the guys (Aamil Wagner) who went to my school, I went to go see how he was doing,” said Brown. “It just looked like I visited there.”

That said, Notre Dame’s coaching staff did make sure to spend time with Brown during the trip.

“I talked to the coaches I already knew,” stated Brown. “I talked to Marcus Freeman, Coach (Mike) Mickens and Coach (Mike) Brown.”

Even so, Notre Dame’s coaches, including Marcus Freeman, Mike Mickens, and Mike Brown, took time to speak with him during the visit. Freeman and Mickens, both Wayne High School alumni, haven’t pushed hard to flip Brown’s commitment, instead focusing on his development.

“They haven’t really tried to throw my commitment in my face,” Brown said. “They just want me to get better each and every day.”

Brown has been to Notre Dame multiple times at this point, including Irish Invasion last summer and a game in the fall.

There is familiarity with the program and Brown has seen why prospects choose to sign with the Fighting Irish.

“I haven’t really considered anyone else,” Brown explained. “I definitely would consider Notre Dame a great place. They’re big on brotherhood and everyone sticking together. Notre Dame is actually a great place for people who don’t know that.”

Despite outside speculation, Brown remains unfazed and firm in his pledge to the Buckeyes.

“If they aren’t in my circle, I don’t pay them attention if it’s not my family or my coaches or coaches at Ohio State,” said Brown. “Whatever they say, I don’t really care about it. I’m committed to Ohio State and that’s where I’m going.”
