2028 Bolles School (Fla.) athlete Xander Edwards‍ is familiar with Notre Dame as he’s the son of Fighting Irish legend Marc Edwards.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder returned to South Bend earlier this month for the Irish Invasion, and Notre Dame is starting to feel a little different than the place he visits with his father.

“It gets better and better every time I come up here,” Edwards stated. “All the coaches are showing me love and I just love it up here every single time I come up.”

Edwards rushed for 558 yards and eight scores as a freshman in 2024 and worked out at running back for the Notre Dame staff.

“I think I could have played better, but I didn't play terrible,” explained Edwards. “There's definitely some stuff in my game that I want to improve, like my footwork, things like that, but I ran good. My shuttle was good. I think I had a productive day today.”

Arkansas State, Memphis, Pitt, SMU, South Florida, Syracuse and Western Kentucky have already offered, but that has only furthered Edwards’ desire to put in more work.

Edwards also camped at Clemson, Florida, NC State and South Carolina this summer as he looks to build on his early momentum on the recruiting trail.

“I'm still young, so I have a long way to go,” said Edwards. “I'm just going to go through a bunch of camps this summer, then focus on the fall season and then hopefully recruiting goes up.”

Notre Dame hasn’t offered the Florida native just yet, but Edwards understands the process and has a date circled.

“They usually don't offer high school sophomores until spring of your sophomore year for Pot of Gold Day,” Edwards stated. “They said that I have a really good opportunity of earning that offer on Pot of Gold Day, but that's about it.”

For Edwards, an offer from Notre Dame would be a major milestone.

“I have always wanted this offer really badly and this is finally the time I could go get it,” Edwards explained. “I’m working really hard to get this offer.”

That said, the Florida native remains open to the process and other programs. But the Irish legacy isn’t hiding where his heart leans.

“Yeah, I’ll do that, but it’s really hard to say no to here,” said Edwards when asked if he would give other schools a shot. “If I end up here, it’s fine by me.”
