Notre Dame jumped out to an early lead for Grubbs and maintained it all of the way through. The Irish did pursue some other quarterbacks, including Brady Hart - who ultimately reclassified into a 2025 prospect at Texas A&M - and Troy Huhn, but Grubbs was the one they focused most of their attention on and was the one they wanted in the end.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Grubbs is a four-year starter in high school and definitely got his 10,000 hours in before Notre Dame. I thought he showed good improvement in both his pocket awareness and ability to escape the rush as a senior.  The one thing that didn’t noticeably improve was his accuracy and that still remains the biggest question mark for him in college.

Grubbs’ frame and arm talent reminds me of former Stanford quarterback Tanner McKee, a multi-year starter who was a good player in a not great situation during the end of the David Shaw era. I always felt McKee could have been a lot more successful surrounded by better talent and coaching. Grubbs wasn’t supported with great talent around him in high school and that will certainly change at Notre Dame.

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
The Texas native was headed to Michigan after taking trip after trip to Ann Arbor. Notre Dame saw Deland McCullough leave for the NFL and Ja'Juan Seider was able to convince Osborne to finally make a visit to South Bend. Folks in Texas believed Notre Dame would blow Osborne away, dating back to when he was just a sophomore in high school, and they proved to be correct as the rest is history. .

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
The obvious comparison for what kind of player he could be is current Notre Dame RB Jadarian Price. Osborne has the same kind of lateral explosiveness with jump cuts. I thought his burst this fall looked a lot closer to what I saw from him as a sophomore as well. He has the potential to be a home run hitter and Notre Dame fans are very aware of how valuable it is to have that at running back.

I think Osborne has all of the other traits to develop into a very good to great RB1 at the college level. He has feet, vision, and grit to be a very good inside runner and he can make that first defender miss.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“Whenever I talk to Coach Freeman, I feel ready to play a football game. He has that aura about himself. He’s really positive and has a great energy. That’s really attractive and that’s positive to be around. It’s really refreshing because you don’t see that often. He’s a great human being.”

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
The Irish jumped out to a meaningful lead when he made his first visit to South Bend in January. Deland McCullough’s departure for the NFL slowed things down, but not for long. He returned in April and had the chance to meet Ja’Juan Seider and by May, Walton was committed to Notre Dame. The list of schools he was seriously considering was always shorter than you’d imagine for a running back his caliber, but did include Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Stanford.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Walton has the size, agility, and power to develop into a heck of an inside runner. I think he can get quite a bit bigger as well. His size and long speed are very reminiscent of current Notre Dame running back Kedren Young.

Walton’s awareness and willingness to block in blitz pickup as well as his ability to catch the ball could help Walton compete early for playing time, but it’s his physical traits that could translate to him eventually becoming RB1 at Notre Dame.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“It was the first day that we got there back in January...Just walking on the campus, it felt different than everywhere else I've been. I know a lot of people say that about Notre Dame, but it is true. I could feel that this probably was a place that I would want to be.”

ESPN: 76 (3-star)
Composite: 88 (3-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Notre Dame was the first school to offer Faison and was the only school for a significant period of time. Why? Well, Faison is the nation's top lacrosse prospect, and with his brother already at Notre Dame, it seemed like a perfect match. It indeed was a perfect match and Notre Dame is likely getting steal as Faison's game on the gridiron has sky rocketed over the last year.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
It’s impossible to watch him and not see the exact traits that stand out with his older brother. Toughness, lateral agility, and speed can go a long way at receiver and Dylan Faison checks those boxes. He has a longer frame than his brother as well.

He has the potential to become someone who feasts against man coverage and makes plays after the catch as well as a returner.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“They made me feel like home and I had a long talk with my family and my brother and made sure that this is what I wanted to do and their community; it’s supporting everything I can ask for. The most valuable thing that they offer is life after sports and that's one thing that I'm really interested in and that is what they have.”

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
It was always Notre Dame for Finley. The four-star prospect made an early recruiting visit to Notre Dame and the Irish impressed Finley and his mother. Texas could have likely ended it a bit earlier, but they waited and didn't push for the Longhorn legacy until it was too late.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Finley is someone I expect to come in and compete for playing time immediately at Notre Dame. It’s not just his game, but how developed he is physically as well.

He reminds me a lot of current Notre Dame receiver Jaden Greathouse in so many ways. Greathouse isn’t someone who would beat most of his fellow Notre Dame receivers in a 40, but there are so many other pieces of his game that have made him a key player when healthy for the Irish.

I think Finley has the versatility and skill set to align at any receiver position on the field. His fit in that sense might be determined by where everyone else fits around him. Wherever he is lined up, I believe he can develop into a multi-year starter for the Irish and has the potential to become a consistent, highly productive option and eventual NFL Draft pick.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“I think Coach Freeman is one of the best coaches that I've personally been with. I think he's one of the best in the game for sure. He's a very genuine person. I think he's a head coach anybody in the nation would run through a wall for. I think of him really highly.”

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Fitzgerald visited South Bend several times before he was offered. And while some prospects seem like commits before they make that decision final, in some ways, Fitzgerald felt like a commit before he was even offered. Notre Dame finally offered in May and while he already had multiple official visits locked in, he quickly rearranged things to add South Bend to the itinerary. UCLA, Clemson, Stanford, North Carolina and Arizona State were also on the list, but in the end, the Irish were always going to be very tough to beat and he announced his commitment the first week of July.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Fitzgerald is a bit of a late bloomer in many ways. He’s literally grown a significant amount with his height and weight since he started high school. He looked more dynamic and more refined with the details of the game as a senior and I expect that to continue.

His ball skills are outstanding and I believe he can develop into a very good boundary receiver. It might take him some time before he makes a significant impact, but he has potential to become a legitimate NFL prospect.

ESPN: 81 (4-star)
Composite: 89.8 (3-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
It was one of those recruitments where Notre Dame knew they just needed to get Frazier on campus. It took a minute, but it went exactly how they expected - and probably even better. Frazier took an unofficial visit in April and committed a few days later.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Explosive plays can swing a game and Frazier is an explosive athlete. Though he is undersized, he has the kind of rare speed combined with solid ball skills that can make him a big play threat whenever he touches the football.

He could play the slot or the field at Notre Dame, but should be someone who can be used in a variety of ways on gadget plays as well as potentially be utilized in the return game. He took a nice step as a route runner as a senior. I love his long term potential if he continues to develop his complete game under Mike Brown.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“They need a player like me; speed, shifty, slot receiver, just get the ball in my hands and let me work type of player. They're telling me they'll use me in a slot, punt return, most likely, everything...That's it. I feel like that's the perfect thing.”

WR BRAYDEN ROBINSON

247: 90 (4-star)
Rivals: 88 (3-star)
ESPN: 80 (4-star)
Composite: 89.5 (3-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Notre Dame was always near the top of Robinson’s list, if not at the top. But things got a little blurry down the stretch. He also took official visits to Arizona and Miami and while the Irish seemed like a slam dunk coming into the officials, coming out, nobody seemed sure what he was going to do. Eventually, he landed in the spot he’d been along and committed to Notre Dame the first week of July.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Notre Dame has compared Robinson to former Cincinnati WR Tre Tucker and it makes a ton of sense. Also diminutive in size, he became a weapon in Mike Denbrock’s offense in the screen game and as an extension of the running game. He also was very dangerous in the return game with a couple of kick returns for touchdowns.

Notre Dame fans may recall that he was one of the rare receivers who was able to beat Kyle Hamilton deep when they were matched up against each other in the slot.

Tucker was 5-9 167 as a true freshman, but was 185 by his senior season. I don’t know if Robinson can get that big, but the ideal scenario for him is to follow a similar path of development to the one Tucker experienced while working with Mike Brown.

There will likely always be limitations to his game because of his size, but Denbrock and Brown helped turn Tucker’s speed into him being drafted on day two of the NFL Draft. That’s the ideal scenario for Robinson.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“(Mike Denbrock is) really a genius at this offense stuff...seeing the aspect of where he sees me in the offense, the things he could do with me and knowing that he's confident in me really playing anywhere in the field is definitely big...I feel like they wouldn't put a cap on my versatility; whether that's me playing slot, outside, in the backfield, the return game. I feel like they would have a pretty good package for me.”

TE PRESTON FRYZEL

VITALS
6’4, 220
Central Catholic (Toledo, Ohio)

Rivals: 91 (4-star)
ESPN: 78 (3-star)
Composite: 88.1 (3-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Notre Dame needed a tight end and Irish fans can chalk this one up to new GM Mike Martin. Martin was doing some area recruiting in Toledo when he saw Fryzel and the Irish worked quickly. Fryzel made his way to campus a few weeks later and committed two weeks after his official visit.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Iowa evaluates and develops the tight end as well as any program and I see a lot of similar traits to former Iowa tight end Sam LaPorta. He became a very productive player for the Hawkeyes and eventually was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Notre Dame general manager Mike Martin, the former director of scouting advancement for the Lions, was the one who offered Fryzel.

LaPorta was an under the radar prospect as was former Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert. For Irish fans, he’s a comp to look at. Eifert was coached by Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and I think Fryzel has a lot of similarities to Eifert with his ball skills and ability after the catch.

I realize those are big-time players to compare him to, but that’s the skill set and ceiling that Fryzel possesses. In my eyes, he’s the most underrated prospect in the class.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“I've been on a ton of visits and when I stepped foot on Notre Dame, I knew that's where I wanted to go. Honestly, everything felt right.”

TE IAN PREMER

VITALS
6’6, 230
Great Bend (Great Bend, Kan.)

OFFERS
Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, Wisconson

RANKING
ISD: 96 (4-star)
247: 98 (5-star)
Rivals: 97 (4-star)
ESPN: 84 (4-star)
Composite: 94.2 (4-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Possibly the most interesting and challenging recruitment to follow this cycle. Premer was always a dream type candidate for the Irish, but they weren’t sure they would be able to get him out of Kansas. Of all the players they landed, Premer was probably the longest shot at different points of the process, but the Irish kept battling. Even after they got him on an official visit in June, though, they weren’t sure. There were multiple times when Notre Dame believed it was more likely to be pairing Evan Jacobson with Fryzel than Premer. But, in the end, the Irish got their top choice, when Premer announced his commitment in June.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
I think he shares a lot of similar athletic traits to current Notre Dame tight end Eli Raridon, but with more of a Gronkish nature after the catch that is reminiscent of former Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer. He doesn’t have the refinement as a receiver that Mayer had, but it can certainly be developed.

That combination of those two players matches up with a player Notre Dame faced last season in the College Football Playoff. Former Penn State tight end Tyler Warren was a straight up “dude” who stood out against elite competition because of his athleticism and compete level. Premer has the talent and approach to make the same kind of impact.

He has a chance to develop into an All-American at Notre Dame.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“If (Coach Freeman) walks into any room, they all know who's leading the meetings, who's in charge. People know him and respect him...I watched a Notre Dame documentary and he is asking some of the players for their opinions or what they want to do, so he kind of lets them have their say too, which I thought was really cool.”

OL SULLIVAN GARVIN

247: 88 (3-star)
Rivals: 88 (3-star)
ESPN: 78 (3-star)
Composite: 89 (3-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Notre Dame didn't have to work too hard in this one as Garvin's dream school was Notre Dame. Garvin made his way to the Louisville game last year and walked out of the game with an offer. He didn't commit on the spot, but he waited less than 24 hours after National Signing Day to commit to the Fighting Irish.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
It’s always harder to evaluate someone’s film when they are going against competition that doesn’t come close to matching their abilities. Garvin is a monster compared to the small school competition he faces.

It always comes back to the traits, though. He’s a massive human who is going to easily carry 300+ pounds and is a great athlete for an interior lineman. He also plays with a serious edge.

Garvin’s light feet and nasty demeanor remind me of current Notre Dame center Ashton Craig. I like Garvin’s potential a lot. He has the tools to develop into a starter for the Irish.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“The reason I chose Notre Dame is because of their coaches. They have believed in me the most out of anyone. They've recruited me the hardest. I can tell they have a true plan for me. Some other great things that play into it as well; world-class education, great location being only an hour 20 from my house. It always just feels right when I'm there.”

OL GRAYSON McKEOGH

VITALS
6’8, 285
La Salle College (Philadelphia, Pa.)

OFFERS
Alabama, Boston College, Duke, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Missouri, NC State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, South Florida, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas, Wake Forest, Wisconsin

RANKING
ISD: 90 (4-star)
247: 93 (4-star)
Rivals: 98 (5-star)
ESPN: 79 (3-star)
Composite: 89.5 (3-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Notre Dame offered McKeogh relatively late, this past April, when he’d already had official visits set to Penn State and Duke. Even with a truncated timeframe, McKeogh knew he’d have to take an unofficial visit to South Bend before locking in an official. He squeezed that unofficial in in April and was blown away.  The Irish felt like they had control of the recruitment the rest of the way and he announced his commitment days after his official visit in June.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
McKeogh is only scratching the surface of his potential as an offensive tackle and will only improve with more reps and experience. He hasn’t come close to filling out his frame either.

He has the skill set to play left tackle and though there will be plenty of competition at the tackle position, McKeogh should have the time to develop into the player he can become at Notre Dame.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“I always hear, 'You are who you surround yourself with.' And if I'm surrounding myself with guys I trust and who I can be myself with and with guys who want the same thing as me and just want to work hard, then I feel like that's where I'm going to be comfortable the most.”

247: 91 (4-star)
Rivals: 89 (3-star)
ESPN: 84 (4-star)
Composite: 92.2 (4-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Notre Dame quickly became the team to beat in Nichols' recruitment as Joe Rudolph made him a priority. Michigan always seemed like the biggest hurdle for Notre Dame to clear, but the Wolverines never offered, including after Nichols camped with the expectation an offer would come.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Merrill is a massive presence who can move people off the ball. He plays with a nasty demeanor and has the kind of mentality that will fit right in with the rest of Notre Dame’s offensive line room.

He moves better than most at his size, but I don’t see him as someone who can play tackle. He’s going to be a guard and has potential to develop into a tone setter up front for the Irish.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“At the end of the day, the good people you surround yourself with are the ones who will lift you up the most.”

OL BEN NICHOLS

VITALS

247: 94 (4-star)
Rivals: 90 (4-star)
ESPN: 81 (4-star)
Composite: 90.4 (4-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
I’m a big fan of Nichols. There are a lot of other guys who look like him who win with size and strength, but he generates so much power from leverage and twitch. He also is a plus athlete for a guy his size.

I love this pickup for the Irish. I think he has the potential to develop into a high-level starter at guard with some flexibility to compete at tackle as well if that was what was needed. Nichols reminds me of former Notre Dame All-American guard Aaron Banks in many respects.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Jamie’s thoughts.

Composite: 90.4 (4-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
There were times throughout the cycle where it didn’t seem like this would be a match for either side, but in the end, it seemed like a no-brainer for both. Michigan came after Patrick hard and there were moments when he seemed to be leaning toward the Wolverines, but the combination of everything Notre Dame offers on and off the field as well as the other players in the 2026 class led to Patrick leaning toward the Irish and eventually committing in mid-April.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
I think Patrick has the traits to develop into a quality starter at Notre Dame, but there are other pieces that have sold me on him as a prospect as well. His father and his uncle (Nebraska) being FBS offensive linemen is a really good thing and Patrick is someone who already puts in work on the details of playing the position. He also is someone who has such a clear understanding of the culture of Notre Dame's program and where the O-line fits within it.

I think he’s someone who could play tackle, but could potentially shift inside to guard or center as well. He’s in the same mold as Jarrett Patterson. Patrick is agile, technically sound, and I’m excited to see what he looks like in a few years with more physical development.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“It really came down to the type of people that they have in their program; all the coaches, all the players, they're all really, really great people and they have ambitions outside of football.”

Rivals: 91 (4-star)
ESPN: 76 (3-star)
Composite: 87.0 (3-star)

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Notre Dame offered the late bloomer late, but it didn't matter. The three-star prospect blew up in the spring and several programs hopped on the Thom train, but following an official visit to Notre Dame, it was over. Thom did earn his offer from Notre Dame as he camped to earn it and then returned a few weeks later for his official visit and a couple days after.

ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
There’s a long list of converted tight ends who have converted to offensive tackle where it’s worked out very well. Notre Dame fans just saw Joe Alt do it as successfully as anyone has and fellow 2026 commit Grayson McKeogh‍ is another one who was previously a tight end and who is making that transition as well.

Thom looked very good in his first season at offensive tackle for Avon Old Farms. He’s going to take some time to develop at Notre Dame, but I think he backed up the evaluation that was made by Joe Rudolph with his play. He’s an elite athlete for the position and has the potential to become a high NFL Draft pick.

FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“It's insane. There's no other words that really describe it. It's just a dream come true.”
