Max Hunt‍ got a good peek at the Notre Dame Football program last month and the 2027 Kentucky tight end liked what he saw.

“It was good,” Hunt told Irish Sports Daily. “I had a great time.

“We first walked from the Bulla Lot, so we got to see some of the campus. It was beautiful. And then I got to go see the indoor facility that I did camp on. I went upstairs, got my height, weight and the other measurements.”

After getting some food and hearing from some speakers, it was over to Notre Dame Stadium for the 6-foot-5, 250-pounder and the other visitors.

“We got to see The Walk and that was pretty cool,” Hunt said. “And Touchdown Jesus, that was one of my favorite parts. Then, we got to walk onto the field. We hung out by the locker room for a little minute and we got to see some of the players walk by.”

The Holy Cross High School standout enjoyed the Irish’s 49-10 win over Navy.

“I thought it was fun,” he said. “I thought it was amazing. I thought it was cool that all the people stayed even though it started snowing and stuff and it was still a blowout game. It shows a lot about the community there.”

Hunt liked how versatile the Irish tight ends were.

“They were all in different parts,” he said. “There was one who got a receiving touchdown and #9 was blocking a lot.

“The tight ends are used for both things and I'm pretty good at both things and I love doing both things. I feel like I could fit in well if they need me.”

He had the chance to speak with some of the recruiting staffers while in town.

“It was cool to talk to them just about the culture there and the community, the Golden Standard and all the stuff there,” he said.

Hunt has early offers from Kentucky and Miami-Ohio. Prior to the Notre Dame visit, he’d been to Purdue, Cincinnati, Indiana, Miami-Ohio and Northern Illinois. Next up are trips to Northwestern, Virginia Tech and Louisville.

He intends to stay in touch with the Irish as well, including tight ends coach Mike Denbrock.

“Probably coming back for a junior day or getting to know the coach more because he's a busy guy being the offensive coordinator too. I've got to get to know him before I can try taking a bigger step.”
