2027 RB Isaiah Rogers Gets Good Look At Notre Dame, Wants Another
Isaiah Rogers returned to Notre Dame this weekend for the first time in over a year, looking for a more complete feel for the program and came away with a clearer picture of where the Irish stand in his recruitment.
The 2027 Massachusetts running back made his way back to campus after previously attending Irish Invasion in 2024 and left impressed after spending time with head coach Marcus Freeman and running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider.
“It went good,” Rogers told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was my first time meeting Coach Freeman and Coach Seider in person.”
The 5-foot-10, 190-pounder spent extended time with Freeman and Seider during the visit, gaining a better understanding of how he fits within the program.
“Great coaches, great people,” he said. “Coach Seider's resume speaks for itself. He has four backs going to The League right now. Just sitting in the meeting room and talking to him, he's a great, great teacher. He's going to develop you on and off the field. He's a great mentor as well.”
The Springfield, Mass., native also came away impressed after sitting down with Freeman.
“Great head coach, great guy, kept it real with me and my family,” he said. “I really, really appreciated talking to him.”
The message from the Irish staff centered on long-term opportunities beyond sports.
“The biggest point was just the development part and what I'm going to get out of not just football, but out of the school,” he said. “The connections and meeting new people who have connections to things outside of football, like companies and stuff like that, the networking I'll get at Notre Dame football and a great education as well.”
Even Rogers, someone who prefers to focus on Plan A, acknowledged the importance of having a backup plan like the one Notre Dame can provide.
“That does resonate with me,” he said.
Rogers also got an up-close look at practice, which reinforced his impression of how the program goes to work on a daily basis.
“Practice was great,” he said. “They were flying around, high speed, players getting coached, very competitive, but they kept it right, kept everybody healthy and safe. Overall, it was a great practice.”
The Springfield Central High School standout is also strongly considering Georgia, Indiana, Penn State, UCLA, Nebraska, Virginia Tech and North Carolina.
Now, Rogers is looking to take the next step with Notre Dame.
“I definitely want to take an official visit,” he said. “I might have to move things around because their officials are the second and third week of June, but we'll figure that out.”
Rogers is scheduled to visit Georgia next weekend and Penn State next month. He also has official visits set with Georgia, Indiana and Penn State, although he may need to shift those dates to fit the Irish’s calendar as he mentioned.
When he does return to South Bend, the focus will be on further developing those relationships and gaining an even deeper understanding of life within the program.
“Just talking to the players, seeing how everything is, how life is like as a student and as a player in Notre Dame,” he said.
“I got to feel a lot of it today, which I'm very excited for. And then just talking to Coach Seider more, talking to Coach Freeman more about how they could see me at Notre Dame.”
A final decision is expected following those official visits, likely in early July.
