A first impression opportunity is on deck between Notre Dame and Nick Anderson as the 2028 Pennsylvania offensive lineman is set to be on campus for this weekend’s Blue-Gold Game.
The Kiski Area standout will be making his first trip to South Bend, giving the Irish a chance to build on early communication and establish a stronger foundation in his recruitment while also giving Anderson a chance to make a strong impression of his own.
“I've always heard great things about it,” Anderson said. “There’s great tradition up there and it's my first time going up.”
Notre Dame has been in early contact and this visit will allow Anderson to learn a bit more about the program and the University.
The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder has been in contact with offensive line coach Joe Rudolph, who helped set up the visit after the two discussed timing and practice availability.
“He was telling me how there's not a whole lot of people there, but there's still great connections and where I'd play,” Anderson said.
“I think he sounds like a great guy and I'm excited to meet him.”
Anderson currently has offers from schools like Maryland, UCLA, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin among others.
The Irish haven’t offered yet, but their message has been clear early.
“They see me playing interior offensive line over there,” he said. “They said I'm a great fit.”
This weekend will give Anderson a chance to put faces to names and get a better feel for the program beyond those early conversations.
“I’m excited to see the campus and meet the coaches and see the facilities,” he said.
The Vandergrift, Pa., native has been active on the visit trail this spring with stops at Penn State, Virginia, Indiana and Maryland with this trip to Notre Dame closing out that stretch.
He does intend to be back on the round again hitting the camp circuit this summer, but hasn’t locked in anything just yet. .
He’s still in the early stages of his recruitment and is focused on finding the right overall fit, both on and off the field.
“I want a great college campus and obviously great academics so I can get a degree and do what I want to do after football,” he said.
There’s no rush in his process, with Anderson indicating he doesn’t plan to start narrowing things down until after his junior season. Still, this weekend gives Notre Dame a chance to make an early impression.
