TOMMY TREMBLE - TIGHT END

ISD: 3-star

Composite: 3-star

Norcross, GA (Wesleyan HS)

6-foot-4, 225 pounds

Recruiter: Autry Denson/Chip Long

Recruitment Rundown: Tremble’s recruitment did provide some excitement and uncertainty down the stretch, but he was Notre Dame’s to lose from his first visit over the summer. His father played at Georgia and initially, many thought he’d stay home and do the same, but from the beginning he made it clear to us that some of those closest to him prefer he didn’t do that. In fact, Tremble told us he wanted to make an early pledge to Tennessee, but was glad he was advised to take things slowly. After that trip to South Bend in the summer, Tremble had Notre Dame at the top of his list. He liked his official in October even more and when he returned for an unofficial visit in November, it seemed like a commitment was only a formality. But then he took an official to Michigan and his eyes were once again opened to other opportunities. Jim Harbaugh made a huge impression on him and Chip Kelly did the same and he took his last official visit to UCLA. But in the end, the chance to be a part of a school with such a rich history at tight end and the academics at Notre Dame was too much to pass up.

Johns Creek head coach Matt Helmerich: “He had a great showing at the Nike Opening and ran a good time with a ridiculous vertical jump and did great in the one-on-ones. He’s a freaky athlete…He’s been the hardest worker in the weight room. He carries himself great in the hallways, lunch room. He’s getting it done in the classroom. He’s been phenomenal.”

ISD expert Jamie Uyeyama: Notre Dame didn’t need another tight end in this class to go with previous commitment, George Takacs.  The Irish are only losing one off the roster for next season as well, so adding one more had nothing to do with numbers at the position.

They didn’t need one. They wanted one and one in particular. That one is Tremble and he brings a skill set that is a bit unique to the tight end room at Notre Dame. He has the potential to be an exciting piece in the Irish offense in the years to come and could very well end up being a match-up nightmare in the middle of the field.
