Amon-Ra St. Brown Announces Final Three
2018 Mater Dei (Calif.) receiver Amon-ra St. Brown has been on Notre Dame’s radar forever as his older brother, Equanimeous, signed with Irish in 2015.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder picked up an offer from the Irish in June of 2015 at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp in Detroit, and it’s been a battle ever since.
St. Brown finished his prep career with 154 receptions for 2,922 yards and 44 touchdowns.
On Christmas day, St. Brown announced his Top 3 of Notre Dame, Stanford, and USC, which comes as no surprise as he has brothers at Notre Dame and Stanford, while most feel USC has him all but locked up.
Notre Dame hosted St. Brown in October for his official visit, and he saw the Irish wax USC 49-14. The five-star prospect was at Stanford to see the Cardinal top the Irish in the last game of the regular season.
The Trojans were seen as the leader for most of the last 12 months with the Irish making a push here and there. St. Brown and his family speak highly of head coach Brian Kelly and the rest of the Notre Dame staff, but concerns over the quarterback position will likely have him committing to the Trojans.
USC could return quarterback Sam Darnold next fall, but if not, St. Brown’s quarterback the last three years at Mater Dei will be attending USC. JT Daniels was originally a 2019 prospect, but late last week, the five-star announced he would reclassify to the 2018 class.
Daniels was named the 2017 National Gatorade Player of the Year as he threw for 4,123 yards, 52 touchdowns and just four interceptions this fall. For his career, Daniels finishes with 12,014 passing yards, 152 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in only three seasons.
Can St. Brown pass up one playing with one of the most prolific passers in high school history? It’s doubtful. Any choice other than USC would be a bigger shock than Manti Te'o choosing the Irish in 2009.
St. Brown will announce his college decision at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 6th
