2020 Bishop Miege (Kans.) receiver Daniel Jackson‍ has made two trips to Notre Dame in the last year and will make his third trip in just over a month.

The 6-foot, 180-pounder will be back in South Bend for the Michigan game, and it’s a trip he’s already excited to make.

“I have a scheduled visit up there on September 1st, and I’m looking forward to it,” Jackson told Irish Sports Daily. “I’m trying to get a feel for the college experience of being there on game day and the day before the game. I just want to get a feel for the environment and the fans.

“I want to imagine myself there and get a feel for everything.”

The chance to see a big-time rivalry game was also a reason the three-star prospect wanted to get to Notre Dame.

“I’m looking for a good game,” stated Jackson. “Notre Dame against Michigan will be a good matchup. It will be good to see the talent up there and how the coaches coach.”

Jackson added an offer from the Irish when he was on campus in mid-April, and it opened the doors for Notre Dame’s top recruiter.

2020 quarterback Drew Pyne‍ has been in Jackson’s ear for the last few months, but the two have also started to develop a friendship.

“We talk all the time and play Fortnite together,” laughed Jackson. “We text every so often and keep up with each other on Snapchat. We definitely keep in contact with each other.”

While the relationship with Pyne might not entirely make or break his decision, Jackson wants to go to a school with people he feels comfortable around. Notre Dame should have a good chance as several of Jackson’s friends go there already, including his cousin Jafar Armstrong and his high school quarterback will play baseball for the Irish.

“I have a lot of close friends already up at Notre Dame,” Jackson said. “Recently, one of my friends I used to play FBU football with seventh grade committed there for baseball. Having people up there I know is really nice.”

As for other visits, Jackson hasn’t locked anything else in for the fall, but he will be in Stillwater in the coming days for camp.

“We’ll have to see,” said Jackson when asked about other visits on his schedule. “When the school year starts, I’ll be able to communicate with coaches more and invites to games will come.

“I’m actually going to Oklahoma State this Thursday for a camp up there. They invited me over, so we’ll see how that goes.”

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy is a name most college football fans are familiar with, and Jackson is well-aware of the mullet and Gundy’s reputation of being a players coach.

“I met him when I was little kid at an Oklahoma State camp when I was around 11,” Jackson stated. “He’s very outspoken. I don’t know that much about him, but I’m looking forward to talking with him after the visit. I’m hoping to get to know him a little bit more.”

Jackson will soon turn his attention towards his junior season as the Bishop Miege program has been working hard since the end of May. One thing to keep an eye on will be where Jackson lines up this year.

“Coach was talking about it the other day,” explained Jackson. “I’m going to be moving around from the slot to the outside and then I’ll be in the backfield a little bit. He’s going to use my talents in different ways to make it difficult for the defense.”

In 2017, Jackson recorded 54 receptions for 1,270 yards and 16 touchdowns, but he has set higher goals for 2018.

“Every year I set goals on my whiteboard at my house,” said Jackson. “I want to score 20 touchdowns and have 1,500 yards.

“When it comes to team goals, I want to win State.”
