2020 Bishop Miege (Kans.) receiver Daniel Jackson‍ has been a frequent visitor to Notre Dame over the last year and made a trip back to South Bend on Saturday to see the Irish take down Michigan.

“I didn’t get there until late,” stated Jackson. “I was hoping to get a tour, but I got there at 4. It was chill and a great visit.”

The night was also special for the 6-foot, 180-pounder as he got to watch his cousin, Jafar Armstrong, play in his first game for the Irish.

“I had talked to Coach Kelly earlier, and he told me Jafar was starting,” said Jackson. “Jafar had said he was grinding in camp, but when I saw him score on the first drive,  I was a little surprised. I knew he was going to do great.”

Armstrong didn’t have a lack of support in the stands, but the moment was a special one for the family.

“I was with my family, and we were giving high-fives and everything,” stated Jackson. “We had seen him do it in high school, so to get to see him do it against a great defense like Michigan, it doesn’t get better than that.”

Jackson might have fired up for his cousin, but he also was blown away by the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium.

“It was completely amazing,” Jackson said. “The ‘green out’ was awesome to see. It was great to see how everyone interacted with the game and how the crowd celebrated when the team scored. We saw them do pushups and everything. It was a great experience.”

When it came to the game, Jackson paid close attention to the Irish receivers throughout the night.

“I was watching Chase Claypool and Miles Boykin,” Jackson explained. “I really liked watching them because they are so talented. I was impressed with Notre Dame’s offense. It was good to see how they ran and passed the ball.”

Before the game, Jackson had the chance to catch up with Brian Kelly. Jackson suffered a season-ending knee injury, but Kelly made sure to make it clear the injury didn’t impact his offer, which will keep the Bishop Miege star out for about five months.

“Coach Kelly told me he was excited to get me back to Notre Dame,” stated Jackson. “We talked about my injury and how my offer wasn’t going anywhere. He wants me to get healthy. It was a great conversation.”
