2024 Notre Dame WR Commit Cam Williams Enjoys Relaxed Grill & Chill Event
Cam Williams keeps showing up.
The longtime Notre Dame commit has consistently shown up at every recruiting event over the last year and Sunday was no different as the four-star prospect was on campus for final recruiting event of the summer.
“It was good like every time,” Williams told ISD. “We had a lot of fun. There were a ton of mini-games and there was competition all day. We had a grilling competition, dodgeball, water balloon toss, knockout and Irish ball, which is like basketball and ultimate frisbee and that gets heated. Good gracious.
“It was fun and a great atmosphere.”
Williams is a veteran of the recruiting process and was able to give some of the 2025 prospects on campus some valuable advice.
“The 2025 recruits are curious about what I did and how I went about my journey even though it was a quick one,” stated Williams. “I did a lot of good informing today.
“It makes me feel like I’m definitely experienced. It’s expected. A year ago, I was in the same position and now I’m five months outside of being at Notre Dame.”
And yes, the Glenbard South (Ill.) star will arrive at Notre Dame for good in January, which is something he’s caught himself thinking about lately.
“I’ve kind of thought about it a couple times recently,” explained Williams. “When the 2023 guys got there, I was thinking that’s cool and I’ll be doing that in a year, but I have time. Now, we’re five months away. When summer hit, I’m like wow, and now that it’s the end of the summer, I don’t have much time left. I’m going to play three months of football, have a quick offseason and then I’m there.”
Williams wasn’t the only Chicagoland prospect on campus as he was joined by Talyn Taylor, Chris Burgess, Gabe Kaminski, Joseph Reiff and Dom Hulak.
It’s clear the Chicago area has seen an uptick in talent in recent years and Williams believes Notre Dame can take advantage of it.
“I think as time goes on, the country will notice the talent is incredible and it always has been,” Williams stated. “With Notre Dame just down the street, they should have no problem or issue with recruiting that area.”
And yes, Williams did make sure to spend time with 2025 receivers Talyn Taylor and Jerome Bettis Jr. as it’s clear Notre Dame has both high on the board.
“I didn’t egg them on, but I did in a moderate tone,” laughed Williams. “They know I’m joking but I’m not joking. It’s always a good time with them. Hopefully, I’ll see them during the season and they’ll get a more real look at what’s going on in South Bend.”
Sunday was also a chance for Williams to connect with a couple future teammates as several commits were in town, including a couple he hadn’t met yet.
“I think Styles (Prescod) and Taebron (Bennie-Powell) were the only people I hadn’t met in the class,” Williams said. “There might have been a time before Styles committed, but being around them today sets the tone for what’s to come.”
Notre Dame fans can expect to see more of Williams on campus as he expects to be a frequent visitor this fall.
“I’ll probably be at every home game,” said Williams. “That seems realistic.”
