Few people really knew what Burgess was going to choose until just before he made his announcement during this past January’s All-American Bowl in San Antonio. He’d always planned on making an early decision and the Irish seemed to be in a great position but Ohio State, Michigan and Alabama were in pursuit all the way. Burgess liked the football in South Bend, especially defensive line coach Al Washington, but in the end, he noted how it was about more than that. It was about the degree and the opportunities later in life.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Burgess was someone I liked a lot more after watching him in person than I did after watching his junior film, but I thought he made a big step as a senior where the play on the field started to match up better with his traits.
Those traits are extremely enticing. With his frame, power, and twitch, I think he is someone who could really take off working in Notre Dame's strength and conditioning program and being developed by Al Washington. His stock went up for me and he's only scratching the surface of his potential.
FAVORITE ISD QUOTE

Surprises rarely happen, but Dixon surprised many with his commitment, which came the night before the spring game in 2023. Why the early and surprise? Well, Dixon always had Notre Dame as his dream school and made the easy call. Dixon never got cold feet during his recruitment and has been a constant fixture in South Bend since his commitment.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
After getting too heavy for his junior year, I thought a slimmed down Dixon was much better as a senior. His first step quickness and ability to be disruptive with a strong punch was evident.
His high-level flashes show why he can develop into a factor as a nose guard at Notre Dame. He'll need to find a level of consistency greater than he's shown in high school, but he has plus pass rush potential for a nose if he develops like he should.

Reiff camped at Notre Dame in June of 2023 and immediately became a priority after what he showed the staff on that hot day. The four-star prospect returned for the Grill N Chill event before giving his pledge the day after the Ohio State game in 2023.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
I wanted to see more of Reiff's senior film than I have because I know he wasn't dominant at Irish Invasion in the summer. Everything I see with pads on, though, I've been a fan of. He's long with the frame to add a ton of weight and knows how to use his length well at the point of attack.
I'm not sure if he has enough twitch to develop into an elite interior rusher, but his lateral movement and motor are two reasons why I'm a believer in his game.
FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“The academics were number one on my list, Notre Dame checked that box. High-caliber football, obviously it's Notre Dame. When you think of college football teams, you think of Notre Dame. They're second to none. Atmosphere, I was at the Ohio State game the night I committed, and that atmosphere was incredible, even though it didn't end the way we wanted it to. It's just that it felt right to me.”

Notre Dame needed an interior body and they evaluated a ton of guys in the spring. The list was then cut down to a select group and the staff was able to see all their targets workout in-person during the spring evaluation period and Sulfsted was the clear leader of the pack. Notre Dame offered and the rest was history. Sulfsted did suffer a knee injury this fall, which slowed down his development, but it hasn’t changed how Notre Dame feels about his potential.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Sulfsted has the frame to get a lot bigger and I love his athleticism. He has the potential to develop into a very good sub-package interior rusher with his lateral twitch and likely will end up as a 3-technique at Notre Dame.
This is a tenacious football player who gets after it as a blocker on offense (tight end) and has plus traits that could see him develop into a defensive lineman who is capable of playing all three downs from multiple alignments.
His injury that forced him to miss his senior season isn't the best news for his development, but I still see him as a high upside addition to the class.

The Irish went in heavy on Hulak early with General Manager Chad Bowden talking to him on a weekly basis after extending an offer back in March of 2023. Hulak made the trip down from Illinois multiple times and by last November, he was ready to choose the Irish over offers from schools like Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue and Minnesota. Hulak pointed to the mix of football - and being prepared to compete at the highest level - and academics - being set up for success off the field.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
A three-sport athlete who was asked to play multiple positions for his high school football program, Hulak demonstrated awesome potential as an edge rusher at Irish Invasion this summer and carried that over while primarily playing there as a senior.
He has elite athleticism for the position and he's going to grow exponentially with more experience playing there. I see him as someone who can help immediately as a core special teams player and with the potential to develop into a high-level edge rusher for the Irish.

Sometimes players don’t want to follow in the footsteps of their father or brother, but in this case, Kia had no issues going to the same school as his older brother, Kahanu. Kia and his family were very familiar with what Notre Dame had to offer and it was a no-brainer as he committed when they moved Kahanu back to South Bend following his two-year LDS mission.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
I know with a lot of prospects the focus is on measurables and verified testing. Maybe that’s why these recruiting services continue to disrespect the players from Hawaii year and year. They aren’t getting the same exposure at camps as players from the mainland.
The film says more than enough about Kia as a prospect. He’s cut from the same cloth as his older brother Kahanu and former Notre Dame linebacker Marist Liufau. He shares the same traits as them on the football field.
I think Kia is athletic enough to play Will linebacker and I could see him playing that Money backer role that Liufau played this past season where he's a sub-package pass rusher. I could also see him being a full-time edge and the way he plays there reminds me of former Wisconsin edge Nick Herbig.
He was a relentless pass rusher and was highly productive. I think Kia has the potential to develop into that type of player as an upperclassmen at Notre Dame.

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
One of the Irish’s earliest targets in the class, Sacca was initially viewed as a potential safety, although it was no surprise when he grew into a linebacker. Notre Dame wasn’t sure where it stood with the understated Sacca for a while, but he kept coming back. Eventually, the Irish became convinced he was a Notre Dame kid and that Sacca may have known it all along. A Penn State legacy, many assumed he would stay home and play for his father’s alma mater. But an overlooked aspect of his father’s time in Happy Valley was that his tight end and good friend was a fella by the name of Al Golden. Ohio State was a threat and so was Alabama in the end, but the bonds Sacca built with Golden, Marcus Freeman, Max Bullough and Chad Bowden led to his March announcement.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Sacca’s long term fit is as a Will or a Mike. He has all of the physical traits to develop into a quality starter there for the Irish with plenty of sub-package value. I think he has the potential to be an outstanding coverage linebacker who can match up with tight ends and most running backs.
Sacca made big strides as a senior in every area and it reminds me a lot of what I saw from Drayk Bowen at the same point in his development. The Irish are loaded at the linebacker position, but he's another very good one with the potential to contribute early in his career.

Golden chose the Irish over offers from several other high-major programs like Alabama, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas A&M and USC among several others. Multiple visits to campus during his recruitment put the Irish in prime position early and it was a position they maintained. He formed strong bonds with Marcus Freeman, Mike Mickens and Chad Bowden and every visit to South Bend only served to reinforce the belief that it was where he belonged. In April of this year, he brought the process to a close.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
An extremely fluid athlete with great speed, Golden is a ball player who is talented enough to play on either side of the ball in college. It wouldn’t be all that surprising to see him ultimately end up at receiver.
Coaches are always going to value his traits on defense first, though. It’s very similar to former Notre Dame CB KeiVarae Russell, who was recruited to play offense, but his tools and the depth chart led him to playing corner.
Golden has the tools to develop into a chess piece who can excel in multiple roles. I see him lining up as a field corner or in the nickel for the Irish.
FAVORITE ISD QUOTE

RECRUITMENT RUNDOWN
Thomas made multiple visits to Notre Dame before giving his pledge in November of 2023, but it was hardly a surprise as the Irish had a significant lead in his recruitment from essentially day one. Mike Mickens got in early and never let go as Thomas was an early priority. The fact that Notre Dame was able to sell Benjamin Morrison’s All-American as a freshman made it even easier, as the two attended the same high school.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
I think Thomas is a good football player with a high floor. He has the ball skills, physicality, and competitiveness to develop into a player for Notre Dame regardless of his position.
That’s why my comp for him is former Irish corner Bennett Jackson. He played outside, but ended up moving to safety when he went to the next level. I think we might see Thomas move to safety sooner than that. I love his film playing safety as a senior. He's an intelligent player with outstanding recognition and he plays with an edge.
FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“(The coaches) showed me so much love throughout this recruitment process, so that's a huge deal for me. I could tell that they don't just want me as a player. I really connect with them on a personal level as well.

The Irish entered the race as Zackery saw his recruitment explode back in May of 2023. Zackery chose Notre Dame over a competitive field that included Cincinnati, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, and USC. But from the time the Irish offered, it looked like a Notre Dame-Michigan battle. He formed a strong relationship with Mike Mickens based on trust and his respect for Mickens’ history of player development with players like Ben Morrison and Sauce Gardner. He also placed an emphasis on the educational opportunities beyond football that Notre Dame provides and ultimately committed to the Irish in May of 2024.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Zackery has the tools to be an outstanding corner and I could see him playing outside or as a slot defender.
He’s a bit light right now, but once he isn’t playing basketball, it should be a lot easier for him to add the right weight. Once that happens, he could be ready to compete for playing time immediately at Notre Dame. He's someone who just pops as an athlete, but the two-way start is a better football player. His ball production (six interceptions as a senior) is something that backs that up.
Zackery’s game reminds me of former Michigan CB DJ Turner, a player Notre Dame offered and I really liked as a prospect. He had a very good career there before becoming a day two pick in the NFL Draft.
FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“The way (Mike Mickens) develops his players, obviously guys like Ben Morrison, Sauce (Gardner), Coby (Bryant). But also how his players view him. One of the Irish’s very top prospects, the Irish had to beat out schools like Florida State, Virginia Tech and South Carolina, but in the end edged out Penn State and Michigan to land him. Strong bonds with Mike Mickens and Marcus Freeman helped push Notre Dame to the top of the list for Blair, who was also attracted to Notre Dame’s long-term benefits. He visited South Bend multiple times and his final unofficial visit to South Bend may have been the most important trip of the process. Still, he took a flurry of officials in May and June before announcing his commitment in early-July.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
Any safety with a frame like his is going to get compared to Kyle Hamilton, but I think that’s an unfair comparison for anyone. Hamilton was simply at a different level when it came to instincts, fluidity as an athlete, and ability to do just about everything at a high level.
I don’t think Blair can play as a single high safety or man up on slot receivers the same way Hamilton could. He is closer to Hamilton in the other areas of his game, though.
He has big time ball skills, is aggressive running the alley, and has very good awareness in coverage. Blair has the potential to be extremely productive at Notre Dame. He is a very good football player with the potential to become a multi-year starter for the Irish.
FAVORITE ISD QUOTE
“I love Coach Mickens, I love Chad, Coach Freeman, Al Golden. They're great people. I have a very great connection with them, a very strong connection with them. Logan made a commitment to play baseball at Vanderbilt early in his high school career, which certainly truncated his football recruitment. Still, there were some schools that continued keeping tabs on him, including Notre Dame and Iowa. But everybody seemed to be under the impression that Logan was set with playing baseball at Vanderbilt. Then, he showed up at Irish Invasion in June and put on a show. The Irish took immediate notice and quietly brought him in for a visit. Initially, the plan was to bring him in as a baseball prospect who would likely earn a scholarship to play football before his time in South Bend was complete. But when Ivan Taylor decommitted from the Irish, they suddenly had a spot for Logan. Not one for extra attention, Logan privately told the Notre Dame staff he would take it and was done with recruiting, but wasn’t going to make any public announcement until his summer baseball season was complete.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
This is a savvy addition to the class for Notre Dame’s coaching and personnel staff because of his high ceiling. He didn’t go to team camps or combines during the offseason other than Notre Dame’s and was under the radar because of it.
If he had put up these testing numbers at an Under Armour Camp, his offers for football would have exploded.
The Irish are getting someone with elite athleticism who has barely scratched the surface of his ability on the football field and the baseball team is also getting a terrific prospect as well. Logan has the potential to rise significantly up the rankings as a senior and has all of the tools to develop into a starting safety and eventual NFL Draft pick for the Irish.
He played faster, made big strides with his technique, and made a ton of plays as a senior. Jessie Bates (day two pick, second team All-ACC) was another overlooked safety prospect from Fort Wayne who proved to be a hidden game for Wake Forest. Logan has the tools that could see him have a similar type of career at Notre Dame.

Long didn’t hide his emotions when receiving an offer from the Irish back in May of 2023. He’d already taken a recruiting visit to South Bend and had dreamed of playing for Notre Dame ever since his cousin, Austin Webster, had served as a captain for the program back in 2017. Long didn’t rush things though and took multiple visits before announcing for Notre Dame over Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin in January of this year. The direction of the program coupled with the Four For 40 pitch helped Long make his decision as did former Irish safeties coach Chris O’Leary. When O’Leary left South Bend to take a job with the Chargers, he made sure to phone Long to convince him Notre Dame was still the best place for him. Long appreciated that and agreed.
ISD EXPERT JAMIE UYEYAMA
I like Long’s potential as a downhill safety making plays on the perimeter/near the line of scrimmage. However, he did show more of an ability to play deep as a senior as someone who can split the field.
While he doesn't "wow" as an athlete, he has good instincts, plays physical, and has good ball skills. I'm a fan of his game.
