Thoughts on the Rivals 100 for 2021
The initial Rivals 100 is out for the 2021 recruiting class and Notre Dame is well represented in terms of commits and targets.
Three Notre Dame commits were listed in the top 100 and Avon (Ind.) offensive lineman Blake Fisher headlines the group as he checks in as the No. 14 player overall. The 6-foot-6, 325-pounder committed to the Irish last Friday and then won MVP honors at the Lineman’s Challenge at Notre Dame on Saturday.
Quarterback Tyler Buchner is the face of the 2021 class and checks in at No. 52 and the seventh-best signal-caller in his class. Now, some may see some familiar names at quarterback ranked a little higher, but this initial ranking speaks volumes of how the country feels about Buchner. Remember, the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder is coming off an ACL injury where he only played four plays in 2018.
Lutheran (Mo.) defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio also committed to Notre Dame last Friday and the four-star prospect checks in at No. 81. The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder took home MVP honors on the defensive side of the ball at Notre Dame’s Lineman’s Challenge on Saturday.
Notre Dame is also making a move with several uncommitted prospects as many have already visited South Bend.
