Updated 2021 ISD Fab 50
College football season was...different in 2020. High school football season was as well. In some states, the season has yet to happen.
That’s one thing that made putting together this version of the 2021 ISD Fab 50 more challenging than any other year. Some players didn’t have film because they didn’t have a season, which meant they weren’t going to see much change with my ranking of them whether it was moving up or down.
Plenty of prospects did move up my rankings who did play, though, including my top prospect in the class, IMG Academy’s JC Latham. My top offensive tackle signed with Alabama, in case you were wondering if the rich will continue to stay rich in college football.
Alabama has signed nine of my top-50 prospects, the most out of any program. Georgia is second with seven. Ohio State is third with six.
The 2021 ISD FAB 50
- There has been a pretty constant theme since I started doing this for ISD. The top programs aren’t going to go back down anytime soon because they continue to recruit at a level that others can’t keep up with.
Nine programs signed 37 of my top-50.
- Notre Dame only offered 26 of my top-50. That’s down from a number that has typically been in the 30s in previous years.
There is some good news for Notre Dame fans, though. They are one of those nine programs and have three who made the cut (Blake Fisher at 8, Tyler Buchner at 19, and Lorenzo Styles Jr. at 35).
The bad news? The next highest ranked player from me is Deion Colzie, who I have 89th. I have Gabriel Rubio 93rd.
While I have LSU with two in the Fab 50, I also ranked WR Chris Hilton 55th, S Sage Ryan 56th, OT Garrett Dellinger 65th, WR Deion Smith 75th, and RB Corey Kiner 80th.
The three top guys for Notre Dame are up there with the elite in the class, but programs who are competing against Notre Dame are stacking up way more top-100 prospects.
Clemson has two in the Fab 50, but six total in my top-100. Oklahoma has five. Oregon has five. Georgia has nine. Ohio State has nine. Alabama has 13.
- If you’re looking for some encouraging news for Notre Dame opponents, Clemson would have had eight in my top-100, but lost two of their best prospects when DL Korey Foreman (USC) and CB Jordan Hancock (Ohio St) decommitted.
Notre Dame was not at their level, but still above the rest of the ACC. Miami signed two Fab 50 studs, but has only other top-100 prospect. North Carolina has a really good class overall, but DE Keeshawn Silver is the only one in the Fab 50 and Drake Maye is the only other in the top-100. Florida State had zero in the top-100.
- Foreman is USC’s only prospect in the Fab 50. They have two others in my top-100 (QB Miller Moss and TE Michael Trigg).
Stanford has zero players in the Fab 50 or top-100.
Michigan has QB JJ McCarthy in the Fab 50 and RB Donovan Edwards just outside of it, but that’s it for them in my top-100.
OT Landon Tengwall is the only Penn State signee who made the top-100.
